Im going to be getting an Abit IP35 Pro and i plan on pushing it to its fsb limits. In order to get the most out of it I am looking to put an aftermarket NB cooler on it if i can't reach my goals of 500+ fsb comfortably.

I have been looking around at NB coolers and I have found that the HR-05 seems to be the best bang for the buck. On thermalright's website I don't think they officially support it. However, my brother has gotten one of these for his mobo which "wasn't supported" according to a rep, and he said he managed to get it to fit and function perfectly.

Can anyone tell me if they have had experience with aftermarket NB coolers for their p35 boards and what you used if you did? Also let me know what kind of difference it made in temp.

Thanks,

someone has to have some sort of after market cooling on there p35 board....right?

P35 isn't that much different than 965. You kind of have to take it on a case by case basis because of the heatpipes on most newer high end boards. FSB limit usually involves water cooling at this point.

I am using the HR-05 on my P5K, I just had to bend the heat pipes on the stock motherboard cooling, but it works fine.

Did you notice a big difference in temps? I may just see what the stock cooling can do before i mess with changing out the stock heatsink/heatpipes. I was just curious whether or not anyone had personally put the thermalrights on their p35 chipset.

Well I have the Abit IP35 pro and I have a HR-05 & HR-09u on the way, I think I might have to do a little modding on the retention clip on the HR-05... not sure though. I'll post my results when the stuff arrives.

Didn't really do any temp measuring, just that the stock was way to hot to touch and the HR-05 is just hot.
