I need to replace my Ante NeoHE 550. Various reasons for it. But basically I'm shuffling some parts around and that Antec is going into another computer.

And I'm getting an 8800GTX today for my main computer. I'm pretty sure I want to get one of the Corsair power supplies. I hear they are a good fit for my Antec P180 case and are quiet.

My concern is if the 520 will be powerful enough. I have most of the usual stuff, P965 motherboard, Core 2 E4300, DVD drive, 5 120mm fans, the 8800GTX... but this part worries me, the 4 SATA drives. 3x 400GB Seagate 7200.10s and a 74GB Raptor.

What are ya'lls opinions? Thanks.

It'd be better go for the bigger watts and leave some overhead than to get the smaller unit and not have enough.

I use a 520, but I don't have that many fans or hard drives.

I just got the 620 Watt PSU, ClubIT.com sent it to me for $137 and free shipping. It'll be $117 after the $20 M.I.R. :)

the 520w would be enough. a recent 1kw psu review ive seen saw a quad core+sli 8800gtx annd the usual 'only' draw 500w...

620 because it's just a little more expensive and it'll still push you into the next generation of cpus/video cards/hds.

yep. 620 is the one to get.

Got a second one for a new gaming rig for $126 after rebates at ZZF. (free shipping)

really hard to beat that price for a great quality PSU.

620. Last year I bought a 500w psu instead of the 600w to save a few bucks, but now I'm regretting it. Video cards are just using too much power theses days.

Well I needed to buy my power supply at Fry's since my graphics card had arrived and I wasn't about to wait until next week to start playing with it.

Last time I was there they had the Corsair power supplies. Now they don't. Surprise, surprise. Shesh.

Well, I ended up getting the Seasonic M12 700. It was small enough that it would fit in that tight lower chamber of my P180 case. And that 4 pin CPU cable was just barely long enough to reach from the bottom of the case to the very top of my Gigabyte motherboard.

The Corsair 520 and 620 are both Seasonic PSU's too, just re-labeled.

@Cliff Couser: I got my HX620 for $117.37 :)

Another vote for the 620. As you can see, I'm using a 430 NeoHE and only a year later I had wished I spent the extra $ for the 500 or 550. Seriously, the 620 is what, $20 more? This is a no brainer here.

Plus I actually have a FT job now (compared to when I was PT and got the 430), so $20-30 more is, what, 40mins @ work?

620 for the win. I have mine and love it. It looks sooo much better than the yellow 520 too!

I absolutely love mine had it since latter part of January and it's amazingly quiet and super powerful. I would recommend the 620 to anyone especially since it's been proven to easily run 8800 GTX SLI and sustain temps of 50C while being torture tested for hours at that temp. It was also pushed to 800 watts and would not break. Amazing piece of hardware and I think they highly underrate what it's capable of.

800 Watts!?! Link plz?

did you guys have coupon codes for free shippin on clubit?

didn't feel like making a new thread about this so.

for those of you who have the HX520/620, what are your rail readings in speedfan? I know, I know, I should't trust software base readings but I don't have a multimeter. my readings for +12V is 11.89-11.90 idle. load is about the same. is this normal? thanks.

Seriously? Your PSU doesn't feed power to monitors...

I can see how someone might think that pushing pixels from the dual DVIs might need more juice. However, the increase in power demands is marginal, it'll work fine.

I was about to buy one of these 620 here but they cost more than US$ 300 here. I found the 520 for 100 less. I am buying a 8800 gtx and want to buy a quad processor on july. As I am not planning to do sli would 5500 be enough?

It was run for 180w over specs for several hours and never faltered in an article in the CPU magazine(Computer Power User). May issue. They rated the 620w very high. I bought one and am very impressed with the packaging. Seems they paid very good attention to the small details. It's very heavy and just a really nice unit asthetically. Haven't installed it yet because I bought it for my new build and my 480w Antec True Bluue is still humming along. May install today just to check it out. Has 20+4 pin connector for those interested. Also this is a modular ps.

Yea, its a great unit!

It can power a Quad Core CPU and two 8800 GTX's in SLi just fine.
