He's made up his mind on the case, mouse, and keyboard- don't try to change it ><. We're also thinking about maybe investing in an E6420? When are those being released?

I probably will be building this myself at his house or something. He was about to pay 2500 for this computer :p .

The e6420 is out now on zipzoomfly for 199 bucks with free shipping, but the 6600 is down to 225 on the egg and price cuts should be coming up early this week.

Everything else looks pretty solid, although I'm not jumping to Vista until they get their shit together. Also, depending on how much you're gonna be overclocking (if at all) you might want to check out the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. It's a great heatsink for the money (25 bucks at xoxide.com) and provides great cooling as well. I just bought one for my e6420 machine I'm building. Unless of course your friend really wants that LED on his heatsink. ;)

Well thats all well and good...

BUT WHERES THE FUCKEN MOTHERBOARD?

Everything else looks fine.

Lmk. K, thx, bye

get the gigabyte 965p ds3 rev 3.3 if u don't have a mobo already.

RAZER MICE SUCK HARD CORE.

Get a G5 or G7, maybe even a MX518, but NOT a razer.

I have experience with the Diamondback, the MX518, the G5, the G7 ect ect. I hated the razer mouse and I had the Eclipse keyboard and I ended up giving that away cuz I hated it so much. Now that I remember...I sent my Razer away to a friend cuz I hated it...he loved it though. Hmm...

A good match, a perfect match, would be either the

G15 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126179)
or
G11 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126009)

With

G7 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104203)
or
G5 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104191)
(''great mouse for any serious gamer, +++to Logitech for another great mouse, get a Razor if you just want to have a status symbol on your desktop, but if you want a great gaming mouse, minus the fluff, the G5 is your best bet.'')

I would recommend the G5 over the G7, simply because theres no such thing as a wireless ''gaming'' mouse. Theres just too much delay, and believe me, while it may be minute theres no doubt you can feel it. Most of the wireless mice have a .005s delay time, and if compared to a wired mouse you can totally feel it.

Other than that, the rig seams nice. Ah, and can't forget to pickup one of these...(Get the XT, but if thats too pricey, the GS is nice too.)

Just don't forget, I'm a avid gamer and I gave away my razer/saitek @#%$.

Ditch that power supply. Despite the good reviews, that power supply has ripples or voltage fluctuations that can damage parts over time. Will something happen? Maybe, maybe not. But don't take the chance. So go with this power supply:

Corsair 620HX 620W PSU - $145

I agree with others, get the E6420 over the E6600, the DS3 rev3.3 from clubIT, the Corsair 620W over the GXS700, and a good UPS.

Mouse is a personal preference thing, so go with whatever he wants. Just be sure to try it out at a local B&M store first.

What size monitor does he have? If he has a 22" or smaller LCD, then he could drop down to the 8800GTS 640MB, and if he doesnt play with AA/AF, he could drop down to the 320MB version instead.

I'd go for the cheaper RAM as well (2GBNQ G.Skills for $110), since you won't really notice much difference with the lower timings -- both are DDR2-800 and neither use Micron D9XXX's.

Also, if he doesnt need SLI, then he could drop down to the 520W Corsair PSU, though the 620W isn't much more -- get either from ZZF instead of the egg, and save even more.

Yeah might want to update that parts list of yours again. The GNBQ sticks are now $130 at the egg.

Ugh, lol. It was just $110 last night! and by last night, I mean like 8 hours ago! lol. Grrrr... bumpin' prices for the CPU price drops... them bastids!

I'd go with a nicer case, personally. That's kind of a personal decision, though I like the Antec P180 series.

Also, you'll still need a motherboard. I'd also go with SATA DVD-drives for cabling purposes, and a dual-harddrive setup (1 for OS, one for storage. Like a 250GB 16MB Cache for OS and a 500GB or larger for storage).

With the recent price drops in processors, I would go with the E6700, especially if you don't plan on overclocking.

That's my 2 cents.

Also you'll need to throw $120 in for OEM Windows (unless you're planning on using Linux).

get the corsairs 520 or 620 w psu very nice rails and very little ripple unlike the ocz ones...

ocz: http://www.jonnyguru.com/review_details.php?id=35&page_num=2
cosair 620W: http://www.jonnyguru.com/review_details.php?id=32&page_num=2
"" 520w: http://www.jonnyguru.com/review_details.php?id=28

ripple over time kills your computer parts so getting a psu with little ripple is a very good thing!!!

As far as they keep saying for your mouse and keyboard get w/e you want its personal prefrence just like the damn case lol

there are also better cpu coolers that are now cheaper as well the thermalright ultra120 + a 120mm fan will run you about 65 or so but thats kinda what you looking at right now but its the best thing out there next to water cooling

as far as windows vista goes... i personaly hate it... its pretty much xp with a nicer apearance and about 400 million times the security... it also wants your approval for evey little thing you want to do and when you disable it it complains... and alot of stuff is not supported yet but thats only time...

i personaly would stick with win xp (pro if u can spring for it) but yeah...
