todd258 may be a scammer

Guys, can someone who lives nearby get to get a hold of the PA police dpt phone number and phone them. they will likely investigate. also get an email address for the contacted officer so those of us far away can email details.

Sounds wierd but I think your supposed to goto your local police and talk to an investigator. I believe ive read two different troll threads where they end up having to file locally instead.

i doubt if i go to a police station in sydney they will do anything about this.

was I the only one who bought from this Turd who is located in the US?

Google maps puts me about 50 minutes from him......The way I drive, its more like 35 minutes....
It's sad that I have a thief for a neighbor....

I know I've said this before, but it's probably not a great idea to get tangled up further in the mess by going to him/his parents personaly. A phone call would be as far as I would go with them. If that does not work out, let the police handle the rest. report him to the FBI's online scamming databases.

It's sad to see this sort of behavior. I almost bought an a8n-sli motherboard from him. I have in my inbox about 6 or 7 PM's from him all of which were quite corteous and well typed. Eventually I didn't buy from him because of his lack of heat. Some traders for time constrains or whatever may never write you about tracking updates, may package stuff poorly, may ship a little late but they ALWAYS deliver nonetheless. This guy plays the educated nice guy who answers every question right and screws every body hard and raw. The good news is I just bought an a8n32-sli from another member here and it arrived in 2 days, he also gave me an awesome deal on it. I guess what I'm trying to say is you shouldn't let events like this screw the rest of the community and stop you from trading further (i understand it's discouraging) rather implement more scrutiny when trading. NO HEAT=NO TRADE unless the seller is willing to ship first. When people throw ebay feedback at you, realize it could be anyone's feedback. I mean there's like 100 todd's on ebay. Lastly, don't buy into the whole nice guy crap, after all who could possibly be nicer than the nigerian guy who writes you because he wants to deposit his bullion and diamonds into your bank. :D

A very similar thing happened to me about a year and a half ago, I paid by MO though. The guy kept saying he would get me a tracking # for about 2 weeks, then after my ultimatum passed of him scanning his receipt and sending it to me, I started looking for contact info. The phone # he had given me was bogus, and so I started searching whitepages for him.. he was using an alias... changing 1 letter at the beginning of his last name, not the sort of thing you'd notice easily at the bank, because it was really a Z but he changed it to a V.

Once I figured this out, I started contacting family.. I called his parent's house(he was 20ish and in college) and he happened to be there.. after his mother gave him the phone the first thing he said was 'don't call back here' and I was like if you'd answer my emails I wouldn't have to. He gave me his cell but a day later had still failed to deliver and started hanging up on me when I called a couple of times the next day.

So I called his local police and gave them all the info. Then I called his father and said I'm sorry sir but your sun scammed me for 430$ on a video card he is selling online and I have contacted the police. I'm sorry but I had to do it as he has become unresponsive to me via email and phone and I feel like he's trying to rip me off.. I have the certified mail receipt and the MO stub that I paid him with if you need me to send those to you. I already faxed them to the police.

His father just said 'I'll get to the bottom of this and call you back this evening'

I think the detective must have given him a call also. The father called me back later that night and said you'll get your money, can you give him 3 weeks.

4 weeks later I had 2 MOs for 400$ in my hand.. I was still out 30$(he claimed he kept that much for his troubles with the shipping and everything, but I know he never shipped anything, so oh well)

This is why I would suggest giving all the information that you have to the police. They can and will help you, even in an interstate situation, especially if there are multiple people involved.. the bigger a deal it is the more likely they will jump on it or forward it to the proper authorities. IC3 is another good way to go.

Well I haven't called, but I have emailed the captain of the detectives division at the Pottsville Police Dept. No reply from him yet, but it hasn't been long since I sent the email.

here we go, but ive got a letter on the way to CC company for chargeback so I should be ok.

can everyone involved in this please pm me with your full details and amount scammed and item so I can add to IC3 form. I will send my details to anyone that pms me. I suggest you all do the same. more people means more chance of court action against this troll and recovery of money.

I second that. I'm filing an IC3 report as well so please, if you don't mind, I would like the same info. Name, Address, Contact Phone #, and amount you were taken for. I'll reply with the same to anyone filing an IC3 report.

ok guys I have the following users that have been scammed. ive sent pms to each of you with my details. i suggest you all file a complaint at IC3.gov and we might get him to court and money back for all(it happened to justin davies the first time he scammed so it can be done).please all pm me with your name, address, phone number and item and value you were scammed for.

also copy all of the following users on your pm:
PreOmegaZero, herc0gs, quique55, Table21, danny_discus, 4X4N, imyourzero, fowen, MjrStryker, tophatfield

I sent him an email Friday and got a response back:
Daniel,
Everything is already off. I did not sell my graphics card. Someone accessed my network and stole all of our families information. I am working with PayPal now to figure out how to find out who did all of this. I am also working with my ISP to figure out who did this.

Sorry for the trouble, but hopefully I can still get everyones money back.

Thanks,
Todd

luckily I'm only out $55 right now... I went ahead and filed a dispute with paypal, but I know they won't do anything helpful. But you can add me to the list.

Funny...that same morning I sent an email to the Pottsville Police dept....wonder if they payed him a visit.

I pm'd all who had sent to me. Lets all try to do this. I think it will be helpful to everyone if we have as much information as possible. I have filed a complaint at IC3, as well as paypal.

This turd needs some jail time, or at least reform school. Good luck guys.

*cough* BS BS *cough*

I hope this guy gets caught...I'm really tired of seeing people get scammed.

to the people that have gotten replies,

Is he acknowledging that the paypal accounts belong to him and his family and they somehow were hacked into to receive payments and then withdraw/spend funds? Fuck I hate paypal cause they don't help for shit but that's another story. I have a number at home that I plan on calling tomorrow morning so I will get back to you guys with any info.

Enrique

Apparently, he is indeed acknowledging that the PayPal accounts belong to his family.

well he hasnt replied to me. also does he think we are zipped up the back? so funds went into his account by someone who had control over his accounts on oc.net and HF and also happened to know his paypal account details and even access his bank to withdraw? i just dont think he thought it through and didnt realise there was a chance of court and maybe jail-time. now he is panicking. well he better get the money back to everyone as I wont let it drop until he is screwed if he does not.

nice one guys ive added everyones info to my complaint. this small rolling snowball has gavered a lot and is becoming a huge thing that will knock some sense into the little scamming turd.

I've updated my complaint with everyone's info as well.
If anyone does not have my info (as I can only PM 3 people at a time), PM me and I can e-mail everyone that I missed (also easier to communicate with if using gmail)

Please tell me if you got my pm.

Also I am pretty sure that todd has pic of his items for sale up at O.C.net. Its such a BS response. Some guy hacked my network, found out what parts I had in my computer, then broke into my house and took apart my system and took pics, then hack my online accounts at OCnet and Hardforum and put my items up for sale, then hacked my paypal, then hacked my bank account and all this time I never checked any of the forums/paypal account, and noticed I had 100s of extra pm talking about stuff that I did not know about.

Yeah. This thing about his network being hacked is total BS. Anyone who did it would have to have at minimum, his email, forums accounts, and paypal accounts in order to pull off something like this. I'm going to ask a mod to check up on his IP addresses. If the IP address hasn't changed significantly since he joined the forums, that pretty much blows his excuse out of the water.

Maybe he has a brother that lives in the same house that really hates him...lol

If so, then his brother owes us all some money...though what's the likelyhood of even a brother knowing all of that info required to pull off a scam like that?

I have all IP addresses he's used here.

I'll PM them to you.

Feel free to post all the information you have here Chip.

From the IP information Chip PM'd me, it looks like the only users who have logged into todd258's account have come from the pennsylvania comcast host, and from a school. I feel this is plenty of evidence that he is lying about his account being hacked.

I had someone get into my computer back in January and order two laptops in germany using my paypal account... they had gained vnc access to my main desktop via a virus (I found 3 virus files actually)... As I was reporting the paypal fraud (30 minutes after it occured... I had just gotten home from work) I watched my cursor move and some of my emails from paypal get deleted as I was writing down info from them (I pull the plug at that point and ran to another computer to change all my passwords.) So it IS possible for someone to have access to his paypal, forums, and email and do it from his IP address. I'm not defending the guy (some one has my money), but I know I experienced something similar back in January. (BTW: I was screwed w/ paypal, because since the German address was added from my home IP address that was end of story and "proof" that it wasn't fraud to them... luckly Bank of America took care of everything for me... still if any one lives in germany and wants to pay a visit to a certain address for me... )

yes but his excuse is like when athletes claim they failed a drug test due to a medical reason. its medically possible to have a condition where your testosterone levels go through the roof but its funny its always athletes with positive tests who have this conditon.lol.

basically im 110% sure he is using a theoretical possibilty to try to get out of this mess.its him plain and simple and nothing will ever make me change my mind about that. no way.
only way I wont pursue this to the end is if he refunds EVERYONE with EVERY cent he stole.

Just checking in, guys. I also received the email from PayPal saying that they decided in my favor but were unable to recover any funds.

I made sure to pay with my CC as a precaution. Is talking to them about doing a chargeback the way to go now? I remember reading that doing so prematurely can result in PayPal getting pissed and mucking with your account...but I also read that if you let them conduct their investigation before taking action with your CC company you are staying with PayPal's guidelines and they really can't do anything to your account. I have always used one PayPal account and have a lot of transactions under my belt...I'd prefer not to have to start over with a new one but if it's that or getting my $150 back then there's no question -- I'm getting my money one way or another.

I thought I'd ask for your advice before proceeding. Is it safe to do the chargeback now or will my PP account be screwed either way?

BTW, I don't have all of Todd's info. If someone could send it to me I'd greatly appreciate it. I need this in order to file a complaint with the IC3, and someone needs to call his local police if we haven't done so already...

Pumbertot, did I send you my info already for your IC3 report?

From what I understand, if PayPal end their investigation and says they cannot recover funds, they're basically telling you you're SOL. Your credit card company will chargeback PayPal, making it PayPal who has effectively lost money in the matter. Sure, this will prompt them to work a little harder to find todd258 and recover their own money, but I have heard that they will cancel your account if they feel you were unjustified in doing a chargeback.

Well I got my "paypal sided in your favor...however"

I am going to call up my credit card company on monday and see how this pans out.
