Monitor sitting in snow. How long until I can turn it on?

Personally, and I'm not sure if this is "correct," but I'd take it out of the packaging and just let it sit until it was room temperature. But you may be fine plugging it in right away, hard to tell. Just feel how cold it is and use your best judgement

Id let it sit outside the box for about an hour. I did this with speakers once, I did not want to blast them whilst being cold. Same principle.
mostly correct, it would depend on how long it will be sitting in the snow, if more than a couple of hours, i would bring it in and unpack it, and let it sit overnight unplugged, if you cannot wait that long, take a look at any of the metallic parts and the screen for frost, let them warm naturally and evaporate the condensation (probably 3-4 hours). Waiting overnight ensures that condensation on the circuit boards internally is entirely evaporated, and not just melted and waiting to short circuit something.
Since it's a LCD I wouldn't worry about it to much. If you can let it get room temp, that would be good. But starting it up earlier wont hurt it either.
If it was a CRT, I would say let it warm up for sure before starting it up. Just because that sudden start on a cold tube might not have a good effect.

I would not take it out of its packaging, as condensation would happen very fast. If it is wrapped in plastic, inside, I would remove outer packaging to help it warm quicker without exposing to moisture.
You want to warm up without being exposed to warm moist indoor air. Cold electronics + indoor air = wet electronics = not good.
I would wait several hours until unwrapping, just to be safe, especially on something that has very limited warranty options.
Whenever I use my digital cameras in the winter I always put them in a plastic bag and keep them wrapped for an hour or so when I bring them back inside. But they are much smaller and warm quicker.

not be a pain but the FW900 is a CRT, a 24" CRT to be exact.
