I just picked up a SanDisk Cruzer 1GB flash drive at Staples for $20. I get home and connect it to my PC and this annoying U3 crap keeps coming up. I want to get rid of it and just use it as a regular flash drive.
I have deleted the files and formated the flash drive. The very next time I connect it that U3 crap keeps coming back and all the files are back too. WTF??!!

Google showed me this I do not own one of these drives personally, and actually never will if I can help it, so I do not know if this actually works. My friend had a drive with U3 on it, but crashed it and that removed it, but this sounds a little more reliable :). I lol'd at the site's attempt to persuade you not to remove it

I have removed that junk from many drives. shadowwyvern's link is the right solution.

Thanks, that did the trick. I was just searching wrong, again.

Thanks for the link. It worked fine. My DVD player's usb wouldn't recognize the flash drive with U3, but it's alright noooww.

Someone buy this man a beer. THANK YOU!

um, if its a sandisk it has the uninstall utility installed as part of the suite. utilities -> remove as I recall.

The uninstall utility on Sandisk's site is the way to go...in the future. As for portable suites, use PortableApps.com instead. It works much better, and allows more freedom and customization.
