I had a laptop crash on me, hard drive is completly dead, can't do anything with it. Anyway, I went out and got a new laptop.

It was my understanding that all I had to do with the Zune is install the software, log in with my account, then I could drag and drop my music from the player to my new laptop.

Well that didn't work...It wouldn't play any of the music because it said I didn't have the rights. So I deleted it all off my computer and after an hour of fucking around with it I was just going to delete everything off my player and re download all 2400 songs(Thanks Microsoft).

Now I can't figure out how to get the damn music off my player...is that even possible? I just want to start over from scratch on this new PC. Is that possible? Can I "reset" my account?


Now I'm starting to see why people steal music, it's a million times easier.:mad:
 
This might help, seems the person that created the guide had a hard drive crash like you and "lost" 3000+ songs till he figured out how to get them off the Zune back on the PC:

And obviously, read very carefully and follow each step (even things that aren't specifically listed as numbered steps, like making sure the Zune software is running before installing either of the recommended apps).

Could have good luck using the very last post in that thread as well, perhaps the Zune 4.0 software can do it manually.
 
All I did when my HDD failed was

Add zune as guest account (Keeps it from being dumb and hiding the files )
go to zune collection
Select all
Right click
Add to collection/library/whatever it says.

Saved 9000ish songs.
