ZR24w Dead on Arrival - Replacement?

I've had a number of HP products over the years, and recently I've had several give me trouble. This brand new, DOA, ZR24w (which I really needed by the end of the week) is just icing on the cake.

With all of that said, what would you guys do? I could just get HP to do an advance replacement, but chances are I'll end up with a refurb - not something that I'm keen on considering that I literally just bought this thing on Sunday. I'm toying with the idea of giving HP the finger and grabbing a U2410 instead.

What would you guys do? My budget is $500 or so, and I'd like a 24", IPS, 1920x1200 display. Input lag is a huge concern for me, and I still have nightmares from gaming on my previous 2408WFP. Are there any other major players for this price range? For example, how does the Asus PA246Q compare to the U2410?

Thanks :)

hp business warranty support is pretty damn awesome. 24hr support, if i remember correctly.

anyawys, id send them an email and tell them whats happened, and demand a factory fresh replacement. theyll probably do it, given the circumstances. with how quick their business support is, youll have your replacement by the end of the week. ive had to do 3 replacements (stuck pixel, premature failure, DOA) and ive always had my replacement in 24hr-48hrs. (exception being when the doa monitor showed up on a friday) theyve always been over nighted with a by noon delivery on them.

I'd return it and be done with HP and go get it at macmall for $350. FYI my buddy got one couple days ago and it's perfect no dead pixels even.

But, if I got a DOA model from macmall, I'd STILL have to deal with HP. ;)

I'm still trying to decide whether to let them replace it with their standard advance replacement (refurb probably), replace it with a brand new one (up to 10-12 business days), or return it and get a U2410.
