Hey

I was just about to purchase my Gainward 6800GT, I'm in Canada and they said they can ship internationally. I thought, great!!

When checking out, the ONLY shipping method was UPS Expedited, for $127 US..

Is it me or is that like... insane?

heh

yeah, if they're going to ship internationally, they should use USPS. FedEx and UPS charge rip off "customs broker fees" and if the recipient refuses the package the shipper is liable for the charges. That's probably what some of the cost is, a prepayment of broker fees.

Did I understand right.........$127 US just for shipping? If I did than thats an insane price to pay. It's about 1/3 the price of the whole video card cost (lol) ....assuming that the card cost around $400 US.
Don't stunts like that make you angry?

Yes, and it's the only option for shipping.

UPS for reliable international shipping, I can understand. But, at $127? for 4-5 days? I don't think so..

Ebay man, hit up ebay. You'd have to be insane to pay that much for shipping.

I agree. On ebay.ca, I've seen the Leadtek 6800GT for $595 + GST + 20 Shipping. That's not too bad, considering ncix.com was $585 + PST & GST + shipping.

I also recommend staying away from UPS when shipping from the US. They assrape you with boarder fees.

have you tried to calculate it again?

i tried to buy sometihng from a sight once and shipping was $999 did it again it was like $3.

well like svc.com has a notice or did that if you chose like 2 day shipping for a item that was too light it would come out to like 999,999 dollars.

I just tried again, to be sure...

I really don't understand it....this is not Europe, there are only three freakin countries in North America...why can't we just trade freely with one another without all the bullshit?

Damn! talk about being raped!

Think if I made a fuss they may lower it? I know it can't cost them $127 to ship it...

Anyone in the US willing to accept some $$$ to order it for me and then ship to me privately?

Edit: As for the Ebay link

"Ships to:United States only"

if anyone is in the NY area, willing to perhaps drive up and meet me half way or even ship, or let me pickup from down there, i'd be willing also... heh might be some $$ in it for ya :)

I'm in the Ottawa area, and would be at the "Odgensburg" (I think) border, but could drive down to Syracuse or something.

so much for NAFTA.
The problem isn't trade between the US and Canada.

Sending it USPS would work just fine, for vastly lower rates.

The problem is that UPS just likes to over-charge whenever possible.

yeah if you just want to return sometime to like ati, etc for RMA, UPS costs a lot of money while USPS is a lot cheaper.

Yeah, stay far, far away from UPS if you're ordering computer parts from the US. They charge at least a $40 brokerage fee for taking it over the boarder on top of the shipping fee. Fedex is better, but not a whole lot better. USPS is the cheapest but you'd still end up paying more than you'd probably want to.

I'm amazed that the 6800GT still isn't widely available in Canada. If you're looking for one, try one of the smaller retailers like www.bigfootcomputers.com or www.acctech.com
Bigfoot has another shipment of GTs coming in tomorrow.

I'm in Potsdam, NY Its about 90 Miles from Ottawa. You can ship it to my gaming center and pick it up there.

Off the shipping topic, I have started shopping at zipzoomfly and other stores since Newegg started price gouging. $540 for a 6800 GT and $60 shipped for a $29.99 NV cooler is out of control. I was a loyal Newegg customer until they became greedy bitches.

I called BigFootComputers and they said the ones coming in today are only enough to fullfill preorders... I'd rather not preorder and get stuck like alot of people have..

Id' be willing to, but my wife wouldn't be willing to cross the borde with "nothing to declare" otherwise ill get hit with taxes etc...

Anyone wanna bring it accross for some $?? :p lol

I would be willing to have it sent to me and ship to you. I have perfect Heat under "WA2" and "wa261" at EBay, so you would not have to worry about anything.

Just trying to help a fellow member out. :)

edit...did not notice another member offered about the same thing. Hope all goes well. :)

I would think that UPS or ZipZoomFly should have better shipping options for Canadian residents than that. There is no difficulty in transporting something into Canada so that price is unreasonably high.

I would check on it being an error or something. I ship my cooling supplies to Cananda all of the time and it is only a few $ then in the US.
