Zippy PSU a good choice?

I'm building a computer together in stages for a friend. He currently has a P3-733(or something close) that's about to bite the dust. He doesn't want to throw down for it all at once, so I'm putting together the first part of it, and he wants to spend around $200 for this part. I recommended a new case, PSU, and DVD burner for now with his current hardware, so he can backup, and have a good, reliable basis.

Anyways, final specs will be something like this:

Athlon 64 (whatever lower speed is a good overclocker in a month or 2)
Socket 939 board (I think, might still go with 754)
1GB of quality PC3200 ram (I'm a corsair xms whore, and will probably go with them again)
Nvidia 6800 NU (Most likely, this will be the last purchase, by the time that comes around, something better in the $300 range may be available)
200+GB HD (Most likely sata since warranties are usually longer on them)
DVD+-RW DL
Random CD, maybe CD-RW drive
Floppy pulled from old machine (He's a teacher and for some reason they use floppies in schools still)
A couple of quiet 80mm fans

Anyways, here's what I picked today:

Case: ~$50 from directron - They are local so it will be taxed, but no shipping to pick it up. This will be a dremel and hole saw special
Burner: ~63.50 from newegg - NEC 3520A
PSU: Looking at Zippy 350W from Newegg for $80.50. Will this be a good choice for what will be the final component count? If not, any recommendations in the same price range? The other 2 parts left me with about $80 for a PSU.

You can get an enermax, multi-rail, amd64 approved, 470Watter for $1.99 more.

The zippy has the following rails
+3.3V @ 25A
+5 V @ 35A
+12V @ 26A
-5V @ 0.8A
-12V @ 1A
+5VSB @ 2A
68% effiency

The enermax has
+3.3 V @ 34A
+5V @ 40A
+12V @ 16A and 15A [31 total]
-12V @ 0.8A
+5VSb @ 2.5A
-5V @ 0.7A
75% efficiency

Total Power : 470W, with 280W on the +3.3V/+5V

Which seems like a better psu to you?
This is not a dig on zippy.. Just stating that the enermax is *better*

THe only catch might be that the enermax might not have a s-ata power header, so you *may* have to get a 4pin molex->sata power adapter IF the hard drive you purchase doesn't have a 4pin molex power connection

The enermax doesn sound like a better deal. I don't give a slight damn about the sata power header, an adapter is fine for that. I didn't even think about split 12v rails. I've got a few more hours to decide what tho recommend, so I'll wait until I see anything else gets recommended. That Enermax looks good though, and I've had one in my home box now for 3+ years without a single problem.

Neither looks better. Numbers don't mean anything unless you know the test conditions.

If the end goal is to have a modern system, then eliminate any supplies not ATX 2.00 compiant. Even if PCIe is not the goal, these supplies are gear toward high levels of 12V usage.

Both the Zippy and Enermax are good supplies, but you might also want to consider the 350W Fortron. It's cheap, quiet, has all the current spec connectors, and is a strong overall unit. Total of 30A on the 12V rails, which would handle the CPU. My experience is that the Zippy and Fortron supplies have a bit tighter regulation than the Enermax units, which will matter if you clock the system.

I ran with Zippy700W/6701 and also I used to have Enermax660W. Rest assured that Zippy or Emacs psus are one of the best Heres with Antec 430

don't forget, the zippy's are rated for 40 degrees celcius and have an advertised 1% voltage regulation.
