I'm currently running Ubuntu 13.10 with a zpool, I'm always weary of doing a dist upgrade, so I was thinking of doing a dual boot with the newest ubuntu and getting it all configured and good to go and just migrating.. Is it as easy as just re-mounting the zpool in the new install?

Assuming it isn't a root pool, sure. Export it on the old install and import on the new one.

You could also just export the pool first and disconnect the drives, then do the dist-upgrade and reconnect/import the pool after the dist-upgrade. Should also be safe, and you do not need to dual-boot.

You can also import if you did not export first as well, when you forget:eek:

ahh ok, awesome thanks for the info all. Just had an external back up die, so waiting on a new one then I'll just give the dist-upgrade a shot I spose.
