ZFS and hardware failure

With all of the posts here about ZFS I'm pretty much sold on it for my next storage project. However I'm wondering what the recovery options are in case of hardware failure. With hardware RAID if the motherboard dies I can just migrate the controller and disks to a new box. If the controller dies I can just replace the card and the array is picked up. How does one recover a ZFS installation if the motherboard or HBA fails?

Just connect the HDDs to new systems mobo/HBA and import the ZFS pool in new system, it is independent from former used Hardware.

That's what I did for my system. I didn't have any failure. I was testing ZFS on a test setup and transferred to my server setup. No need to recreate cifs and nfs shares. They are imported along with the array.

Drive order doesn't matter. It is as easy as two commands. "zpool import" to get a list of whats available, and then "zpool import <your pool's name>"
