With 4 drives is there any difference performance wise of 2 mirrors vs 1 raidz2? Same drive type for all four drives.

raidz of any number has 1 drive random IOPS for a vdev. By '2 mirrors', I assume you mean raid10? If so, the latter will have 2 drive random write IOPs and 4 drive random read IOPs. Sequential throughput should be about the same. 4-drive raidz2 is somewhat safer (can lose any 2 drives and be okay.)

Short answer is yes, the mirrors will offer better performance (particularly with random IO).
