Zero Dispaly Service Error

Having a problem with my first ATI card. Bought an built a new system yesterday and on driver install I get a small dialogue popup that says "Severe Error" on the title bar and "Zero Display Service Error" with just an ok button. Drivers will finish the install and I get the normal restart window.

On reboot windows will load fine right until it hits the desktop, then vid blanks and computer hard locks. I am able to load in safe mode and the drivers appear to be installed correctly. I uninstall using ATI's unistall tool and on reboot windows will boot normally. Have tried official ATI drivers, drivers from the CD and sapphire drivers, all with the same error. Have also tried Driver Cleaner to wipe the system clean of ATI drivers, did not help. Letting windows find the drivers itself on startup causes the same problem.

I have not yet tried putting this vid into a different box and testing. Was up till 12:30am last night and am at work right now (yay for coffee!)

The system is:
Sapphire 9600XT 256meg
P4c 2.8ghz
Asus P4P800SE
1gig ram, dual channel
40gig maxtor HD
generic floppy/cdrom

The bios has not been touched, system is running stock at the moment.

I've tried searching on google for this error and most hits say to do a clean install, which is what I have right now.

Any help would be much appreciated
