Zer0point 81.84 Forceware

yeah - let us know if they offer any improvements over the regular 81.84 betas.

I had another version of zeropoint drivers, didn't have any problems, added cool things here and there.

Well i just finished doing a few tests with these drivers. First thing i noticed was changes in the color with these drivers. Gave more color depth in windows and during games. The zer0point control panel did not work, but they noted that they were having problems with it in the readme file. This driver also has a fix for the 7800gtx bug that occurs in BF2, im not too sure on what this bug actually is, but if you have the gtx and know what they are talking about, id give it a try. I ran a few 3dmark05 tests, again i could tell somewhat of a color difference, but actually lost a few marks. The first test i lost about 180 marks, but then i realized the zer0point driver comes with the Image Quality setting at High quality. So i switched down to Quality and it gave me about 50 marks lower than what i get with the normal 81.84 drivers. I tested also with CS:S. The fog affect seemed to be a little more apparent and again the color was a little more vibrant, but didnt see any difference in fps though, if anything im sure i lost some due to the extra eye candy the drivers offer. Also, another thing i noticed with these drivers is that it autoexecs a file named DHzpColor.vbs every time windows starts. This is most likely what gives the more vibrant color looks.

After the little bit of testing, i ended up switching back to the normal 81.84 drivers. The zer0point drivers offer a little bit of extra eye candy which is nice for gaming, but i just feel more comfortable running nvidia drivers. Its obvious that this driver has some bugs to work out also, seeing that there main control panel doesnt work, so i couldnt really find a way to see what the extra tweaks were. Overall, these drivers are interesting to test out, but i would just stick to the nvidia drivers for normal use.

Nice write-up. I think I will stay with the non modded 81.84s also... Thanks for the info. :)

I just installed these to see if they would help my fps issue with fear and HOLYSHIT did it ever. With almost every setting on medium except for texture quality and light quality 2XAA and 4XAF at 1024 x 768 I ranged between 13 fps and 42 fps with an average of 24 fps. After installing these drivers turning everything to max at 1280x960 I range from 20 to 56 with an average of 36 FPS. You figure I would be stoked but NOOOOOO!! the damn things overheat your video card so bad that you have to alt-tab out of the game every 20 min. or so to let it cool down. My cards at stock speeds as well. I haven't ran any benchmarks or played any other games yet but ill let you'all know when I do.

right now i'm getting the lockup issue with fear, but not doom 3, with 81.84 drivers (6800 + nf3). You think these might help?

^doubt it. if the normal 81.84 drivers are giving you hell, then the modded versions won't be much better. But hey, the only way you can know is if you try it. What previous driver set did you have?

i just got my 6800 oc about a week ago, and i already had the 81.84's installed with my fx 5200 ( ph34r the fx!!!), so it just went in without any reinstalling. Any inparticular that have been better? I just CAN'T STAND the lockups in FEAR. I'm right at the point of selling this and getting an ATI card.

I was getting lockups in Serious Sam 2 with these drivers. Took em out and put in the 78.05 drivers and the lockups went away... you might want to try that.

Good Luck

You gotta be kidding me it should run better, I get lowest of 35 fps everything on MAX, 2xAA and 4xAF @ 1024x768 with vanilla 81.84.

You should obviously reinstall drivers first, then try moving some stuff around. How are the lockups, your whole computer locks up ? Or is it small lock ups as in paging ?
