I'm confused regarding the different types of coolers Zalman has to offer for the Intel Core 2 Quad. Zalman has the CNPS9500A cooler which indicates it is compatible.

When searching for the CNPS9500A on newegg.com it lists 2 different ones which don't show that they are compatible with the Core 2 Quad.

9500 A - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118223
CNPS9500 AT - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8216835118003

And what about the CNPS9700. Doesn't show up on Zalman or Newegg as being compatible.

CNPS9700 NT - http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=165
CNPS9700 LED - http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=164

It's going to be for a Q6600. So which one do you think I will need?

For no MIR, I have to go w/ the Xigmatek too. I like mine - matches (or pretty close at least) my results w/ the quad on a non-backplated original rev Apogee + dirty loop. With the MIR on the Zerotherm, well it's up to you, although I'm not sure how it would stack up w/ the 1283 twins (I don't think it will quite make it though to 1283/TRUE territory).

Another plus in favor of the Xigmatek - you can replace the fan with ANY one that you wish in the event it's not up to snuff to you - or dies after time.. The ZT uses a frame-less (proprietary) fan.

I just put in a Zalman CNPS9500 LED in my sig rig and so far it sucks. I used Arctic Silver 5 for the compound, I thinking about getting the HDT-RS1283 or the Thermaltake Ultra 120 (those are hard to find at the major etailers) and using Noctua's NT-H1 thermal paste.

Even with an open air case I hitting 70C. I've been running at 3.83GHz pretty table. Primer 95 errors out on one core between 2 and 4 hours and I just upped my CPU Vcore to 1.3875.

Aww, why would you make a QX9650 sad by putting a 9500 on there?!
:(

I'm concerned that the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 might be too big for the Lian Li PC-K7B case that I intend to buy. The case dimensions 8.3" x 18.1" x 19.3". Xigmatek listed the dimensions of the HDT-S1283 as 120(W) x 120(H) x 25(D) mm.

If it will fit in my box should I purchase the Crossbow I7751 install kit as well? Looks like some people who rated the cooler on newegg recomended buying the kit.

I have a q6600 with the CNPS9700 LED, On load the highest is 45c idle is anywhere from 20c to 25c.

Is there some reason you needed a Zalman such as height restriction? If so, the CNPS8000 Zalman is awesome for 62.5mm tall, and will cool an oc'd Q6600 nicely (I had mine running @ 3.2 with it for months). Otherwise, get one of the GeminII heatsinks FAR or $10 AR sometime, they are good coolers if room isn't an issue.

Yes I was looking at the Zalman because of the height issue and also because I've owned another Zalman cooler that has been going strong for several years now. But since the Xigmatek seems to be recomended I'm hoping it will fit in my case. Looks like the height of the Xigmatek is going to be around 4.75 inches if im not mistaken.
