So one of the 939 rigs around here was put out of service and it's got a Zalman cooler on it. Since it was purchased some years ago i can't find the backplate that mounts it on LGA775. Is it safe to just to mount it sans the backplate or and i gonna run into trouble. I have an old Golden Orb II mounted without a backplate that's been in service for a while with no trouble, but it's roughly 1/3rd the weight of the zalman.

For reference its a
CNPS9500A
.

i have the lga 775 mounting kit for the 8700.. if its the same id be willing to send it to you..

nvm i just looked at the video.. its not even close to the same..

I have the LGA775 mounting kit for a CNPS9700, if you're interested.

Have you tried seeing if you could get the brackets from ZALMAN through an RMA or something?

Geez i completely forgot about Zalman RMA, i dug up the newegg invoice and sent an e-mail to zalman support. Hopefully i wont be charged an arm and a leg for shipping, my paypal is pretty much empty :D
