I was thinking about getting this for my AMD Athlon 64 3500+ that I might be getting in the near future, but I want to know if I use Arctic Silver 5 instead of the thermal grase that comes with the Heatsink, will I notice a difference in the temps?

I would definately use the AS5 instead of the generic silicone paste that comes with it. I am certain you will see at least a couple degrees drop using it.

From experience, on the stock hsf -- With some old AS3, 10 months off the shelf the temps dropped quite a bit. With the 7000A-alcu, thing's even cooler when overclocked.
