I just bought this HSF and have a question about the speed control portion of the unit. I had it hooked up and when I powered on the system, the LEDs would turn on but the fan wouldn't really spin up. I'm not sure if it is because of the fan control or not.

So right now I have it hooked right to the mobo's power and it is just spinning (not sure at what speed). I plan on pushing my E6300 a little (at least setting the FSB to 400). If I do this, should I have the speed control installed and if so what setting?

I have the same fan and I had to disable the motherboard fan options in bios to get full control of the fan speed via the external fan controller.

That makes sense.... Thanks. Any input on what settings would be ideal for my overclock?

That would be entirely up to you for the most part. I have mine cranked all the way since fan noise does not bother me in the least bit, running a 60mm delta fan for a couple years will do that. :D

A good way to find the balance between noise and cooling power would be to run Prime95 w/ small FFTs and adjust the fan speed till you find the temps within acceptable range.
