When i play movies, i set my Z5500 to dolby pro logic 2 movie and when i do this, the sound is incredible however when people talk, i cannot hear them hardly at all and i hear these crackling noises as well sometimes when they talk. When theres loud action music, its perfect but when its quiet and theres talking you cant even hear what they are saying at all.

Anyone know why this is? I have the creative x-fi card as well so could this be the problem?

It's more of a software problem. What codecs do you use? Have you tried to adjust your AC3 filter setting of voice, surround and LFE?

How do i find out what codecs i use and how do i adjust the ac3 filter etc, thanks (im a noob)

Firstly how do you connect your card to your speaker, with analogue or digital connection?

If you are using analog(ue), then look on the back of your Z5500 control pod and make sure the switch is set to 6.1 discrete input. Then press the "effect" button on the front of the control pod till it reads "6.1 Direct Input" or something to that effect. That should solve your problem.

You did not, however, specify what type of movies you were listening to but this should solve your problem if you are watching (or listening to) a DVD or some other movie (or audio) with a 5.1 audio track. If you are playing stereo sounds I like the "Stereo x2" setting on the control pod but you'll have to experiment and see what you like.
