My GF is trying to plan a retirement party for her dad and wants to use my computer speakers outdoors.

Do you think either of these will work? I'm a little worried about the amp blowing out

Because they are going to be using it for a party and obviously might push the volume up a bit loud. The amp won't blow out for sure, your woofers will be the first to go (no short just rattling damage in the spider trap) and if you go far enough, the fuses will be shorted (near the IEC) and internally on the amp before further damage goes about destroying the output transistors, shorting diode or blown caps. Simple class A discrete circuits, no frills and low quality parts used throughout (resistors and caps).
 
Pretty hard to blow these speakers, the crossover is very high, something like 150Hz so not much excursion is required of the satellites. The amp or subwoofer will go out before the speakers blow, chances are.

Just manually set your woofer to the minimum (1 bar) on the bass level and let people turn it up!

Also, is this a zero budget retirement party? If you are worried about your computer speakers you could rent some PA speakers. It usually only costs about 50-75$ a day to rent a pair.
