z-5500 speaker wire -- replace them?

Hey guys, the new revision of the logitech z-5500's use speaker wire to connect the satellites + sub instead of hard wire connections. I'm thinking it's not the best wire -- should I replace it? With what brand wire, and what gauge, and why?
 
I was wondering the same thing. What's the advantage to getting better speaker wire?
 
Those speaker wires have been revised along time ago, nevertheless, if these handled more power, then using bigger wire would make it more accurate and responsive, but with the wire gauge they have now, it is more than enough to power those. But if you would like, you could go spend hundreds on monster cable wire :rolleyes:

Maybe some other guys can give you some input on this, but I do not think it would make much difference.
 
not much of a difference for me.. I have some 16 guage ones to replace the stock 18 guage I believe? or 20.. I didn't hear anything different. :p
 
I've bought audio/video cables in the past from Blue Jeans Cable (www.bluejeanscable.com). Better quality than monster, and often cheaper I believe. (Good service, too; they were nice in setting up an appt to pick up directly from them here in Seattle.) They sell speaker wire as well (they recommend 12 gauge) -- that said, I don't know if it would make much difference in this case, as other folks write below. (I thought about it for my new z-5500s also, but I probably won't bother. Am considering more strongly for my living room stereo, though.) They have some good information pages on such topics also, so you might want to take a look.
 
Yeah, I probably wouldn't bother unless you needed longer wire lengths and were going to have to replace the wires anyway. Then there's really no harm in going with a higher quality wire. But may not be worth the expense if you're changing 'em just to do it.
 
I have the Z560. I have been using the 18 guage wire pair that they come with for years. I just switched to using the cable that I use in my home theater and I think it makes a slight but noticeable difference if you know what to listen for. The cable I use is 14 guage speaker king (I think that is what it is called) and it is braided very tightly. The lows seem to be clearer and the bass response sounds better. I bought a 100 foot spool online for $35 or so.
