Z-5500 Modifications?

Hey guys...I was wondering if anyone besides me has ever experimented with modifying your Logitech Z-5500’s with different types of speakers? I recently hooked up my Polk Monitor 70’s and its head over heels better than using the satellites. With the crossover I have set up with my Audigy 4, the sub compliments them quite nicely...makes for an awesome 2.1 setup.

Let me know if you have had any similar successes/failiures.

I just recently hooked up some Pioneer monitor speakers to it and everything is just fantastic! No problems switching from the smaller speakers to the monitors, either. Obvious improvement in sound quality as well.

Sorry to steal your thread in order to sidetrack a bit but..

I'm waiting for the next sale of the Z-5500s at NCIX and have a question about adding additional speakers:
Is it possible to add 2 more speakers to them to have 7.1 sound? Is it supported by the hardware/software?

i used a five channel set of pioneers with my 680's and had no regrets. the top end opened up a lot and i never heard any breakup when the sound became complex under normal volumes. that was a couple of years ago. since then i went with the component path and the computer set does not compare. i may get a set of 5500's for my gaming rig now that i have a dedicated home theater and will continue to use the pioneers.

Yeah...some kid sold me the GMX D 5.1 satellites for 50 bucks on Craigs list. (no sub or pod)

I liked the bass of the z5500's and the mid highs of the GMX satellites. Sounds pretty awesome.

I have since just gone 4.1 since my desk is ridiculously small.
