should i use the z-5500 decoder or the built in x-fi decoder... currently i am using the built in x-fi but i saw on this website that i need to switch to the one on my control pod for my z-5500 in order to get 5.1 through the digital because the z-5500 can't encode a signal that has already been encoded... lol whatever that means, here's the website, hopefully you guys can figure this out Logitech

Thanks for the help guys... and yes i do know that i can switch to analog direct channel to get true surroud for most games... but the digital sounds so good lol, im just trying to figure out a way to play for games that have DD.

That article is about using the Z-5500 as a Dolby/DTS decoder for DVD playback. You could do it that way, or let your X-Fi decode, and just use the analog out to your Z-5500. Both work for DVD playback.

For gaming, you need to use analog out.
