YouTube 2006 Awards

[HardOCP News]

In case you missed them, the 2006 YouTube Video Awards have been announced. Other than the girl that got a recording contract out of the deal, I don’t think the winners got anything for winning.

2006 was a pioneering year for online video, user-created content and the YouTube community. You let us into your bedrooms, created new forms of entertainment, and radicalized popular culture. Now it's time to reflect on what a tremendous year it was and recognize the best of the best during the first YouTube Video Awards..

Would've been cool to see YouTube "acknowledge" these people with a check...considering how rich video submitters made the owners

...just a thought.

I cant help but wonder with all the recent issues how they happen to manage to pull a recording contract from a rear end thats been at odds with the riaa/mpaa since day one.

If they wanted to give out awards, I'm sure the oft-removed "Dick in a Box" would beat them all.

Wait, wait, wait ....we like to poach talent from these sites...you know, that serves our purpose. If you use the 1972 Oscar Myer Weiner song in your video for background music...we'll sue you to death (if you literally die, we'll sue your next of kin).

'Say It's Possible" video by Terra Naomi is really good. Though she has an "official" one out now with some user video clips that I like even more.

"Free Hugs Campaign" is a classic "feel-gooder". Rekindles hope for the human race.

"Kiwi" was good, hit me harder than I thought it would. Very clever and stylish.

The rest I didn't care for.
