Posted the _7 _8 procedure at the forum (link) at freebsd.org...
that I used (diary-type, for those familiar roughly with it already.)
It "rolls over" rather than upgrades (ie never reinstalls) in the
usual way...

Windows ME (BIG MISTAKE)

Windows 7 RC
Windows 7 Ultimate... when I get around to it.

On what I considered my main PC, only counting IBM compatibles from the 386 on, and ignoring the Atari 800, Coleco Adam, Tandy, Commodore and various other ancient systems:

Various DOS versions.
Win 3.11
95
98SE (best of the 9X series, which does not really say much)
Xp 32/nix (dual boot with various Deneb and Unbuntu versions over a several year period when I used Win for games and nix for just about everything else. Vista greatly reduced my reasons for doing that, so I stopped the practice).
Xp 64/nix
back to Xp 32/nix (I do a lot of gaming and XP 64 had too many issues at the time for me to stay with it. It labors on in my home server and on some of my other non gaming boxes. Great OS that only received any really good hardware support after it had mostly become irrelevant as a possible mainstream OS)
Vista x64
7 x64 beta
7 x64 RC
Next will be Win 7 Home Premium x64 retail.

I pre ordered a couple copies of retail upgrade when the $50 deal was going on. Though I wish I had went for Enterprise, because the virtual Xp mode intrigues me. I have 98SE, 2K, and Xp virtual machines anyway, so I am still good with just Home Premium. Just will not be quite as seamless for me as it could have been. On my other computers I tend to use whatever works for that computers intended use, and what ever I happen to have a license for.

Dos 5.0 -> Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit. All of em in various flavors except ME and 2000 Professional.

I think I then went back to Windows 2000.

Windows XP Pro on my C2Q Q6600 Shuttle.

Better someone who uses ME and admits to it's failure than people who speak from hearsay like lots of Vista naysayers do.

I used ME myself but only for less than a week. I was just sick of the bluescreens when I so much as sneeze. So it doesn't count against my list as I've not used it very long.

I ran Win Me with issue for a nice long time until win xp came out on my pc. Like it and never had an issue. I think most folk just went off of hearsay just as they are doing with Vista.

I saw a funny post over at Anandtech aboutwhy this man does not use Vista and thinks it is crap..... Oh lord is all I can say...
