I am having the hardest time trying to decide which monitor to purchase. I was looking at a 16:9 aspect ratio monitor, but I am pretty sure I am not going that way now.
So I am looking at three 16:10 aspect ratio monitors. The 3 I am looking at are as follows:
Acer X223Wbd
Samsung T220
Samsung 2253BW

The Acer seems to be a pretty good value for the money. The 2253BW seems to be at the end of life, but I found one new in box so I am considering it.

I browse the web, and do some gaming, but I mainly work on editing my digital photos.

I would appreciate any input.

Thanks, Ron

I would stay away from the Acer since it only has a fixed 700:1 contrast ratio (2500:1 dynamic). I'd go for the Samsung personally. 1000:1 contrast and a 2ms response (and overdrive artifacts are minimal from what I hear) with good color for a TN.

If you're doing a lot of work with photos you might want to pony up and invest in a IPS panel, in which case you'd be looking at much more expensive 20 or 24" panels. While they offer superior response times, TN panels are only 6-bit with dithering. PVA/MVA and IPS are a full 8-bit and are usually sought after those who demand accurate color reproduction.

Thanks Mr. Bluntman. I really cannot afford the IPS panels, so will have to stick with one of the models I listed. I also found a Samsung 220WM at Best Buy on closeout for $180. How does this one compare with the other model I listed.

Thanks, Ron

You want affordable IPS? Get the HP L2335 (23" monitor) for around $149 w/coupon code. The link w/code is here, first post. Would be, overall, a better bet for photo/video editing.

Damn, out of stock. I would have bought one at that price... :(
