You gotta give props to this guy...

For display, I use a 15 inch CRT monitor. Its native resolution is 800x600, and I'm fairly sure it was used for RADAR during World War 2.
Ohhhh that's priceless ahaha

If I'd won the Powerball lately, I'd be tempted to give him a new computer, on the condition that he signed a contract promising not to sell it for 2 years.
Shortly thereafter a Mac G5 shows up...

I'm having second thoughts on whether or not I could really be so cruel.

Well you can install linux on a PPC. I dunno whether or not HL2 will support linuxt...

OMG those Cyrix chips SUCKED.

the kicker about that 200 mhz rig i was talking about is it was a intel mobo with a trition 440 chipset the chip is sposed to max out at 166 but if you maped out the jumpers there was a setting for 200 mhz

The best I could to at the moment is an AMD 486DX2-66 w/ 32MB ram, a 540MB HD a 2MB VLB vid card, and a fried PSU. Originally it was an Intel 486DX33 w/ 8MB, a 240MB disk, and a 1MB VLB vid card...
Of course I could probably bum a working 386SX-16 w/ 4MB ram, 256k integrated Western Digital video and a 40GB HD off of my dad... er.. wait. It got upgraded to a 250GB HD and I think a 1x CD-Rom somehow ended up replacing the 5.25" floppy.
Hmm... I wonder if the 386DX-20 I got for $20 w/ ega video, ega monitor, a 40GB HH 5.25" HD and a 20GB FH 5.25" HD is still in my parents' basement...

It's sad that some pocket pc's are more powerful than his computer....

Ya...it did suck..that's why I posted it in comparison to this guys rig,...because his rig obviously sucks. LOL

i forgot to mention the 200mhz has plexy glass side pannels and a blue cold cathode :D

Seems funny, somebody should buy or give the man some more up to date hardware!
Somebody's got to have a spare folding box or something, right?

Did somebody, by any chance, save the pictures from the auction?

heh i used to have a REALLY old 15" monitor that had all the dials and junk instead of these new fangled OST menus

thign that always concerned me about this monitor was that the front of it had a sticker that said "LOW RADIATION"

Hell if thats all I need to do to get money for a new machine, I'll be on ebay tomorrow.

I've got 3/4 the RAM he does, 100MHz(800MHz P3) more processing power, and a Geforce 4 MX 440 SE PCI.

I'm actually quite surprised the auction has even made as much money as that. A few more bucks and he could have a 6600.

Hey, its better than a sticker that says "High Radiation"! You survived, didn't you :)

Yeah, that guy is depressing me..lol too bad I dont have a good enough computer to sell this one for cheap to him :D

EDIT: btw look at his feedback score... 100 percent good..lol

That was interesting...very interesting indeed. Funny thing is that I owned a Pentium mmx with 200mhz just 10 months ago as my only computer.

Hmm...his system is better than mine!!! Well wait. Not anymore. hehe. :D

I'm actually giving someone a "new" rig in a week or so, just not to the guy on eBay.
I found out a few weeks ago my sister in law's dad is trying to do work (he's an independant contractor/consultant) on a spyware-infested eMachine w/ a Celery 400, 192MB ram, and Win95... I'm collecting up all my spare parts & building him a new rig.
Of course before I give it to him I'll have to give him the obligatory IE & Outlook security lecture... naturally it'll be preloaded w/ Mozilla, Firefox, and SP2 when he gets it.
The poor guy also has a Laptop (800MHz Vaio), or rather the manufacturer has his laptop. It's been in for repair a ton of times. He just got it back, and a week later something died & now it won't power up.
Of course I couldn't resist that Outpost.com 160GB Seagate for $50, so I guess he's getting a new drive since I've got plenty of SCSI diskspace.
So he's going from C400/192/??/95 -> AXP1700+/512/160/XP. Now I just have to decide on a vid card or two from my stockpile. I'll have to bug him about what apps he uses. It'll be a Parhelia (been meaning to sell that for a year...) or a GF4MX400 + a Millenium PCI. The latter would probably be fine, but he said something about AutoCAD once...

yes those images he posted look like they are just editited in PS, but note that is from an E3 demo and not in retail

i would go forward and belive his story and the screenshot he is selling will prove it

Man, he went through a fair amount of work to put that together. It's funny, but if he meant it to be serious from the beginning, then damn.

Wow well first off congradulations for this delightful example of labeling too broadly.

First off I dont support the way this guy is going about begging for money to upgrade his pc.

Secondly at no point in the auction did he say he was giving any thing he could not give if he has halflife 2 and even his current pc. This makes him not a scammer but a begger in return the winning bidder who has now undertaken a contract to buy a printed off picture of the end of halflife2 and as long as the seller fulfills his part it is not a scam just a stupid ebay auction.

Third- Can you prove that the rubber duck is not haunted? So what is the problem with putting a flavorful story detailing the history of an object. There is no proof that it never happened as far as can be known. So why are you getting so upset over another stupid auction that people stupidly paied for it.

Well for $355 he can get a better computer than he already has.....
