If you have ever wondered what good uses could be found for 3D printers, scratch this one off. Creepy factor aside, a 3D rendering of a fetus somehow just feels wrong on so many levels, not to mention the price tag attached, just like an umbilical cord. :D

I'll make due with just a few pictures. Having that 3D model would be a bit creepy. Cool, interesting concept, but still pretty creepy.

However, I did spend a good hour at the human development exhibit at OMSI in Portland, OR looking at all the 'real' fetuses and such. From beginning to end, it's a great and interesting and mind-blowing exhibit. But, a 3D model of my own child? I guess it'd be cool. I'd have to warm up to the idea first... I'd rather wait for the real thing. 16 weeks (ultrasound for identity of sex) to 40 weeks isn't that bad. I waited for my two boys, and it was worth it. I still have those ultrasound pics, too.

I initially read this as "Unicorn Fetus", got excited, then was immediately disappointed.

babies are ugly enough. why would i want a 3d model of an even uglier fetus?

As the father of 2 children...This..All Day.

Seriously, this is just plain disturbing and I would be extremely reluctant to deal with anyone who got one of these.

My cousin had one of those 3d video "4d" baby views. He was showing it off at a party and for the life of me I could not understand why everyone was oohing and ahhing, it looked like something between a lump of clay and a grey alien.

inb4 Texas makes it law that women must hold a 3d print of the fetus before they are allowed an abortion.

To be polite and supportive, the same reason you pretend to care when someone shows you their lazy eyed bucktooth picture of their kid and instead of saying "you know in Sparta they would have thrown that off Mount Taygete" you force a smile and blurt out a "how precious" or "looks just like you".

BTW, as a guy you know when you have to seriously strain to take a really really big poop, how when you turn around and look in the bowl, you just have a feeling of great pride? I mean that is something that grew inside you, that was quite a feat and impressive to even get out of your body, and is unique in the world... well, that's how women feel about their babies. So if you can imagine having a cast of the biggest poop you ever took bronzed for all eternity (which I certainly can), then you have to respect that women will want a model of the parasite in their bellies.

Give it jerky animatronic arms and legs and eyes that follow you through the room while it whispers things in latin, and put it in sex ed rooms in highschool. It might solve the teen pregnancy problem overnight, and if anything might encourage sales of the morning after pill...

That's what I was hoping, although I thought perhaps it was the chick factor (aka hormones), me on the other hand just went to get more spinach dip at that party.. yum!

I'd rather see abortive moms wear all the real things around their necks like shrunken head necklaces.

Pic related.

Oh good, so now when people go to have abortions, they can see exactly what it is they are killing.

If this really was a 3d mode from the 3d or 4d images they give you now then no I don't think I would want one of those 3d models. the pictures they take already look freaky as hell.

That said, you pick a position which means that it really isn't a 3d image of YOUR fetus, it is a premade version that they already have, I guess maybe they try to somewhat model the face off of your ultrasound. But sounds more like a scam to me.

wtf

No, I can't say I have ever had that feeling. Nor would I want a mold of it.

Can I abort it?

Yes, we can!:p

Dude, creepiest thing I've seen since Halloween. Babies are ugly enough once they pop out.

@Duckman: LOL, I thought I was the only who called them things "parasites"!

You know what they say.. better to picture an unborn fetus instead of a born fetus.

Fetus is a baby baby baby, fetus is just latin word.

If I understand what you are trying to say and that a fetus is just a baby then no. A fetus is an unborn baby and ceases to be a fetus the moment of birth.

Disgusting how some are so bent on pushing their values on other people they are trying to turn this into an abortion debate thread.
