So my computer was shutting down earlier in the week... We came to the conclusion that it was the PSU... so I replaced that and the computer stopped rebooting!
Decided to install a x850 to replace my 9700pro... found that my 2.53ghz p4 system wouldn't start up with it... So I decided to hook another PSU seperatly up to it... ended up frying the card :-(
So now I have an x1600 card in my computer...
This is where it gets REALLY Weird....
I installed the new card, booted it up, got into windows and updated to the newest catalist driver. All seemed fine. Restarted mulitple times...no issues. Today I turned my computer on, my monitor lights up, I see thw windows loading screen, put in my password, it STARTS to go into windows and about 15 seconds when it is IN windows the monitor loses the DVI signal and it displays NO image... I shut the monitor off, turn it back on and still no display.
I restart the comuputer muliple times and get the SAME problem everytime...
So then I hook the monitor up with VGA and DVI, boot it up, everything looks ok.. I start to load windows and it works perfectly fine... I go to switch inputs and it ONLY sees the signal from the DVI.. (which is what I want!)
While in windows, I just pull out the VGA cable, I still get the image on the screen, until I go to restart and what happens is the SAME problem as mentioned above..starts to go into window and the monitor says there is no signal after about 15 seconds into windows itself..
I NEVER had this issue with my 9700pro and it seems like ANY card that I put into the computer it's weird?
Unit's a p4: 2.53ghz
Card is now an ATI radeon 1600
Monitor is a 21" gateway widescreen lcd
Thanks,
-Nigel
