Hello I have a Toshiba Satellite A60-S1561 that is in urgent need of some more ram. From what I can tell it takes both PC2100 and PC2700, heres an excerpt from Toshiba's "Detailed Specs" PDF.

My question is can I use ECC RAM? Specifically the RAM found here. I never really understood the difference between registered (ECC) and non-registered RAM.

Thanks for any input it is much appreciated. :).

Its never 100%, but most ECC RAM will work in a non-ECC Motherboard, it just won't use ECC of course. :p

You should never mix ECC ram with Non-ECC ram, but since it seems you only have one slot that shouldn't be a problem for you.

Yeah, I was pretty much sure that I should not mix the different kinds of ram but I am a little concerned with how the onboard ram will play with the ECC ram if it accepts it in the first place.

Thanks for your input :), keep em coming.
