I have spent a few hours looking through the faq and trying to figure out the calculator, but I just don't know. Being this will be a fairly old (established) setup I will be building, maybe someone can just quickly let me know what I need. I've abandoned the idea of trying to get a case and psu cheap, that seems to be certain death. The following is what the new system will be, using most of the guts I have right now (upgrading and selling old parts to cousin) - asus a7n8x dlx, axp 2800+ @2.2ghz(3200+) with 1.8vcore, 2x512 corsair ddr333@ddr400 with 1.8v, A thermaltake volcano 12 on the cpu, a leadtek 6800 128mb agp (non gt or ultra), a few 7200rmp pata hdd's, a dvd burner, 3-4 case fans. I do realize I should stick to fairly good brands, my antec 480w shines right now, but I dont want to part with it. No further overclocking or additions will be made to this computer, so what kind of amps should I look for on the 12v rail? this one has 22amps, but most that come with cases are 13-15, which im guessing is too little? If someone has a similar system or could at least let me know a min 12v rating I would appreciate it, as well as any suggestions. Thanks a lot, sorry for not being able to figure it out on my own :(

Actually your current PSU should be ok, I just got the 550 Antec Truepower and I can finally get my Moblile Barton 2600 over 2.4 Ghz, it's running 2520 right now. My old PSU had 24 amps on the 12v rail and anything above 200 FSB my 12v rail would get flakey and start dropping. I understand a minimum of 28 Amps on the 12v rail or more is what Athlons like.

the 400watt seasnoic super tornado is pretty good. its efficient so it could save you some money on your power bills and its near silent. also seasonic is pretty conservative with their psu ratings. the 12v line on the 400w seasnoic is rated for 22amps which is the same as your truepower.

on my main rig i have the following
2.7ghz 2600+ axpm @ 1.85volts cooled by a slk800u with a 80mm tornado
2x512MB DDR400 patriot LLK ram
9600xt all in wonder
36gb raptor
250gb maxtor
200gb caviar
nec dvd-rw drive
liteon combo drive
3case fans

all this is powered by a 300watt seasonic supertornado (which i will be upgrading but not because its unstable), so the 400watt one should do you fine.
