I have 2x256 ddr2 533Mhz on my system and i want to add another 1Gb. Which should I choose

1)2x512 ddr2 533Mhz and keep running in dual channel mode
or
2)1x1Gb ddr2 533Mhz and no dual channel mode

ps I've read that the differences between dual channel and single channel are not very big is this true?

Thanks in advance

well I'd get the two 512mb sticks if your only planning on running 1gb.

Simple answer, the dual channel option is better in two ways:

1: It will be a smidge faster.

2: It's cheaper to buy 2 sticks of 512, than 1 stick of 1Gb (usually)

Thanx for the replies, much appreciated.

I just ordered 2 512Mb sticks (Samsung -- hope they are reliable :p) which i found on ebay very cheap
