Hey guys, I've been considering water-cooling for some months now, and have been lurking around here for the past month or so to try and make sense of how I should go about things.
I'm running an E6600 and an eVGA 8800GTS 640 on the eVGA 680i mobo with everything on stock and have got my stuff inside a P182 and am looking to keep everything internal like AndyM did here for a measure of portability and (gotta admit it) the clean look.
I'd say my primary goal would be to cut noise and be able to do overclocking on the side. I figure I'm going to be working with a ~$400 budget, and so far, here's what I've picked out so far:
D-tek FuZion CPU
Swiftech MCW-60 + Enzotech ramsinks
DDC w/Petra's top
Swiftech MicroRes
3x Swiftech MCR120 or 2x MCR120 and 1 BIP (space consideration)
Yate Loon D12SMs (most likely running at 7V, maybe 5V)
Masterkleer 7/16" ID, worm clamps
Pentosin G11
PT Nuke
I'm also kicking around the idea of putting waterblocks on the NB and SB, although I'm guessing if I don't OC that much it shouldn't be too much of a factor. My MCP temps were actually really high (upwards of 60C), so I have the NB fan on right now and it rather irritates me. If anything, should I just remount the stock cooler?
If I were to block the NB and SB, I'm looking to using MCW30s. However, I do have a couple of Koolance CHC-120s (1/4" nozzles) from a friend who ended up decided not to use them, and if I could get some feedback on them, that'd be great. Yeah, I know Koolance isn't particularly popular, and I figure mixing Cu and Al isn't the greatest idea, either, but it would save me oh, sixty bucks or so on the two blocks, and I have the option of doing a parallel setup with Swiftech's F-fitting. But yeah, advice on this would be awesome.
Aaaaand my last concern would be flow restriction, especially with 3 rads in the loop. I'm guessing it shouldn't be too much of a problem with the DDC? And how would things look if I ended up putting in a couple of chipset blocks in serial? In such a case, would it be better to split into two loops, i.e. CPU + chipsets and GPU on its own loop? I do think that would blow past my budget and I may have to wait until later, though.
