Here is what I have put together thus far. The only thinks that I am really not sure about is whether to get the Crucial M4 or the Samsung 830, and the heat sink. Hopefully I am not too far on on the rest of my picks, I haven't been keeping up with hardware as much as I use to.

you might want to consider picking up that patriot ssd on the new egg shell shocker list instead. its 120 gb for 130. you could buy cheaper ram to cut cost. can cut 5 bucks off that heatsink with promo THER314
 
I thought that the patriot drive was sanforce which isn't really reliable. Thanks for the code I didn't know about that.
 
Way too much for a 6870 -- should be able to find a used 6950 2GB for around $200-225 shipped from FS/FT here. Also PM'd about a SSD you might be interested in.

If you don't want to go used for GPU, there are GTX 480s for around that price lately since they're liquidating in preparation for the 600 series launch.

That RAM is a little overpriced and tall. You might consider something like the G.Skill Ripjaws or Snipers instead:

Is the GT480 that much faster? I didn't think it was, also I thought those ran fairly hot and it starts getting close to the cost of a GTX 560Ti.
 
You can also save a good bit of money going with this cooler instead.

Is the Hyper 212 good as everyone says it is, I was just thinking the Frio might let me overclock it a little more. Would I need to get the bracket that goes with it?

The Hyper 212+ is pretty good, in the same ballpark as the Frio, if I remember the reviews correctly. It comes with the 1155 mounting bracket.

The GTX 480 is about the same performance as the GTX 570, so it would significantly outperform the 6870 and beat the GTX 560 Ti as well. It is hot though.

Edit: Don't ask me why I didn't combine those two comments, I have no idea.
 
I am going to be putting all of this in a P280 which is made for keeping things quite not cool.
 
Well, the GTX 480 cooler is effective at keeping the card at a proper operating temperature, but it is isn't exactly quiet about doing it, so if noise is a factor you might want to look elsewhere. It does offer pretty compelling performance at that price point though.

I'm not sure what a used GTX 570 goes for now, but that is GTX 480 performance with much better thermals and sound.
 
I was looking at newegg and they have a GTX480 on sale for 200 which doesn't sound too bad. Also which is better the crucial m4 or the Samsung 830?
 
you shouldnt need to pay $95 for a 64gb M4. theyve been popping up on slickdeals pretty regularly lately for less than that. i got my 64GB M4s about 2 weeks ago for $65 each, $130 for my 128GB. unless you need the ssd now, i would just watch slickdeals for another deal, just stay away from the super cheap OCZs.

I agree with going with G.SKill. There was a sale last December for 2x4 1600 G.Skill stick for 29.99 and since then I've had them with no problem at all. This would save you some cash, and maybe another PSU :)
 
Looks good, but you better hurry up and order to get the discount on that 480 GTX.
 
After looking at MicroCenter I am thinking about driving there in the morning to pick up some of the parts. I have seen where there are some combo deals there, anything that I should take note of.

Mobo+cpu deal will save you at least 50. Pickup a 128gb m4 for $170 while your at it.
