ok guys, i know this monitor has been a very hot topic around the display forums for the past month but i think i will be getting this monitor. I have two choices to order from, newegg or dell.
Newegg sells it for 499.99+18 shipped= 520
Dell sells it for 513 +free ship=513

Now a difference of 7 bucks isn't going to make a big difference unless someone has a nice dell coupon that would lower the price even lower. My main concern here would be who has the better dead pixel policy? I heard that newegg has a horrible dead pixel policy and that they are unwilling to exchange monitors unless it has 8 or more dead pixels. I can't even survive with 1, let alone 8!

I read somewhere that dell has a dead pixel policy of 6 and up. But even that is too much.

So which is the better place to order from? I plan on making the purchase either by the weekend or next week.

PS: Are there any more dell coupons that can knock the price down a little more?

DO NOT ORDER A LCD FROM NEWEGG.

Order from Dell or Monitors Direct,Ig you can wiat a few days dell always has good deals or sales and free shipping so id go with Dell>Newegg

I second that notion =)

Wait for a 10% off deal or buy some coupons off ebay.

Dell all the way.....I ordered my 213T from them. It came perfect but with a slightly opened box. I called and complained and after overcoming "the language barrier" The sent me a 90 dollar coupon for shopping @ the Dell site.

PS. If you get a lcd with a dead pixel from Dell, dont send it back for that. Just say your dissatisfied with it .

from the looks of it, ill definetely be purchasing my monitor from dell.com. newegg seems to have horrible return policies.

about those dell sales: how often do those dell sales come? any word on when the next one will be?

about the coupons: i see on ebay that there are people selling these 30 dollars off 450 coupons. Will these work with the samsung 710t?
what other kinds of coupons can i expect to be able to be used for this monitor? are there such thing as 15 percent off for lcd monitors?

Dell worked great for me. Got my 710T for a pretty good price (compared to everywhere else) and it came as quick as I expected it to. 3-4 days, I forget. DHL is OK, but check your tracking often on the expected date (my estimated date was wrong) because they drop it off and leave, don't ring the bell or anything.

If they just dropped mine off and left i would say i never got It and get a 2md one for free Lol

You say they didnt ring your bell as in nobody signed for it, so how will they know if It was in you possession Maybe somebody drove by and saw it and then took it

I dont see a reason not to, That is the reason you are supposed to Sign for It

I'm pretty sure the second it leaves the carrier's hands and placed on your porch it's in your posession and you're completely liable.

You obviously don't understand policy. You can request to make them have someone (yourself) sign for it, but if it isn't required by them to have someone sign for it, then they are not liable after they "deliver" it. Got it?

No No I dont, You cant tell me becouse I have had a package stoeln from me befor. Actually the Ups guy left madden 2003 for PS2 in front of my door and i never got it, and didnt even know it was delivered Then i called Eb games and they shipped me out a new one overnight, got it then next day no problem. It happens all the time. Its on them if they leave it. if you sign a paper that says they are allowed to leave it then yes you are responsible for it, But i will and never would sign that paper. maybe you did, but I didnt so it was UPS fault

But you were talking about lying **********.

If they just dropped mine off and left i would say i never got It and get a 2md one for free Lol

Wow, you're right! I guess I should just go kill that one guy I don't like. I mean there's 6 billion other people in the world, how's killing him going to matter? This is one way to rid myself of the problem that is this guy. And I mean other people have committed murder before, so it's OK right? Thanks Vinny!

Yeah your welcome why dont you go do that and there are 6,377,641,642 in the world right now

You are right if you have to kill somebody just to make money you should do it then. It happens everyday

You should care because it's not the corporate who feels the hit. It's the person who delivered the package who would be getting a pay cut or possibly fired. You would be intentionally making a person's life harder. Do you not see anything wrong with that? Just because it happens, doesn't make it something that doesn't matter or something that should happen. That's some pretty irrational logic.

Posting stuff like this; encouraging kids to lie and steal is just messed up, man. I thought you were getting better since the warnings, but I guess I was wrong.

Lied? Of course. Lied in order to get cheat a $500 monitor out of a company? No. You should care because it is the law. If everyone had your mindset, out economy wouldn't fvcking work. Grow up dude.

No I dont really care, He wasent doing his job in the 1st place

Its like whenever i get a Delivery from UPS, I never get it. I live in a building on the 5th floor, and we dont have a elevator. So everytime I have a package being delived by UPS, I never get it and its It always left downstairs with the superintendant, he doent even ring my bell, he just puts the packaging notice and goes and deliveres it to the basement with the super. He is not doing his job. Now some of you may say oh well he shouldent have to walk up 5 flights of stairs. We live in the Worlds 11th Biggest city with close to 8 million people, It is almost all buildings. So should I continue to let this happen or call in to complain. My mother calls into complain becouse he is not doing his job. It is the drivers job to get your signature

Would you want a Doctor that only did 75% of his job

You aren't listening. It isn't always necessarily his job to get a signature. Policy is different depending on the situation. It is most likely policy to leave deliveries at the first floor with someone who is in charge of large buildings. He IS doing his job. It isn't his job to deliver it to you directly. If that was the case with every company, you probably wouldn't get your stuff nearly as fast.

Un No that is why When i call and complain to the manager of the depot, he says they are supposed to come upand deliver it personaly, UPS, FEDex and DHL are all the same
Are you just running on bullshit now

Stimlaphine, I have personally purchased a Samsung 710T from Dell and I have to say, I've had nothing but good experiences with it so far. Although their shipping estimations need a major overhaul in logic and dating, their use of Airborne Express was an interesting, but reliable one. I received my monitor in only a few days time despite ground shipping (hey, it was free alright?!) and I've had nothing but praise about this monitor. And I haven't even been able to acquire a DVI cable yet for true 1:1 color optimization and picture quality.

I've played all the heavy hitting games (reluctantly too), and I have not noticed any ghosting in any of the major ones such as Unreal Tournament 2004, Farcry, or Need for Speed Underground. This is hands down the best monitor I've ever used and the nicest for space consumption too. :D

I agree, DHL is very good. I live in NY and Dells warehouse is in NJ so i got the standard shipping for free and i actually recived the monitor the next day after it was shipped. I do perfer to send Larger items threw DHL they seem to be cheaper and have less of a load than Fedex and its always good to give the underdog some service, to gte up to the date deliver information i recommend calling them

I recently had a mishap with DHL my gradfather sent us up a new Convection oven up from florida. It was very well packaged, But when they were delivering Me and my brother fely the DHL driver slam the Box on the ground and the whole building vibrated it was also very loud. When i went down to get it, I didnt think nothing of it but when i set it up the whole control panel of the Microwave was dented in and the door no longer closes. So now we are going threw with the Insurance process, But other than this on incident I can only say good things about DHL. It was a 70 lbs box The 710T is only 17Lbs packed so its not heavy at all

No, I just know there is policy in every company. If their worker isn't following policy, and you have complained multiple times, then obviously there is a bigger problem here. The depot isn't doing enough to enforce the "rules".

Wait..you think DHL is very good but yet you just had a mishap with them?

Insurance fraud. It doesn't matter that he didn't get the signature. Lying about him not delivering it is insurance fraud and could get you 1-5 years even for a $500 claim. I know this because my father is an insurance agent for Allstate Insurance. If they contested the claim, which they would, you could be subjected to a search. I don't think you understand the consequences of something like that. Even though the odds of getting caught may be slim, you're committing a felony.

Furthermore, the fact that you didn't sign for it doesn't mean that they would flat out believe you. It's not a requirement for most shipping companies, in fact, you have to request signature service. What that means is they would reject your claim on the basis that DHL says it was delivered.

To summarize this idea:
- Commit a felony (even though there is rather low risk of being caught) for $500 profit
- Very low odds of success
- Potentially spend 5 years of your life in prison for insurance fraud

Good idea. Thanks for shitting on another thread, Vinny.

Um yes except from this one occasioin they have been great, This is also a new driver for DHL. I cant go against the whole company for 1 bad driver. Shit happens I guess

I still know for a fact that this is what the Signature is for, unless you sign a release paper saying that the company is no longer responsible for packages left without signature. I even called UPS and they said this was the reason for the package sign. lets say if they left it with the super and they just decide to keep it for themselves, I guess since I didnt have to sign for it then it is still my responsibility, No no its not

How can you be responsible for somthing that was never in my propor possesion. It is not my fault that I was never given the package and never signhed the release paper. So whoes problem is it

Lets Say Excelsior or BombermanX they left you Monitor out on you front steps or driveway and it was in clearview of the street or coldersack or whatever and somebody drove by while you werent home and just took the 710T(being in its Retail packaging) and left with it

Are you telling me that you wouldent do everything in you power to get another Monitor or you will be ok with loosing close to $500 on a Monitor becouse it was not DHLs fault elst not talk about the insurance fraud,Just about the company policy

Dell sales usually change every Wednesday night. 10% off monitors is pretty common, so I would expect to see it soon.

The $30 off $450 work on the 710T - I used one myself.

There isn't a lot of other coupons readily available and I've seen 15% off monitors, but it's very rare.

I waited for a 10% off and used a $30 off $450 coupon. Came out to about $420 shipped.

And if you get a dead pixel or something, just e-mail them and tell them your are dissatisfied and want a replacement.

Haha. Good one.

Although, I've had bad experiences with UPS before. I ordered three 12" subwoofers and they left them on my driveway. Didn't ring the doorbell, nothing.

I'm not saying you should try and fraud them, but I think someone needs to teach them a lesson, b/c that kind of thing pisses me off.

Maybe it's cheaper for them to just drop off packages and deal with the small percentage that are stolen then to spend the extra 3 minutes per package getting a signature.

It gets me mad when i Have a new Big Pc part coming Like a new graphics card or A new monitor, that i spent alot of money on and It has been sitting outside for 5 hrs and I didnt even know it,How am I supposed to know that it was delivered

You managed again to completely miss the point of our discussion. This isn't about who is liable for a stolen monitor, this began because you said (directly I might add) that you would consider lying to Dell, telling them you never got it so you could get another one.

Of course they are responsible if it is stolen. All I know is sometimes I have to sign, most times I don't.

I dont know maybe in Charlotte, NC(I have never been) it is not densly Populated like NYC is and I know here we always have to sign,

and hell yeah if I could get a free Monitor yes i would do it

I am glad you admit you would lie in order to illegally get a $500 monitor. Congratulations.

I live in the suburbs of Charlotte, so no, it isn't densely populated in my immediate area.

I admit to is freely, becouse I know it doesnt mean anything

Just becouse i say that i would doesnt mean that i have already done so. But like I said thay always make sombody sign so it really doesnt matter if it doesnt get to me
