Yearning for 1997...

1987 and my Commodore 64. I spent a whole summer vacation playing Ultima IV and can still remember when I finally beat it one night at 2am. I played all the old Ultimas (including the then re-released Ultima I) and all the old Bard's Tales I-III. Those games were *it* for me..

The first computer I manage to put my hand on, is the school computer, a CBM 8032. 80 stands for 80 column, and 32 stands for 32 K of RAM. And it's a monochrome computer with lots of games in machine language.

At the time, it was a thrill because it was a much better computer than an older model called the PET--Personal Electronic Translator.

The screen is fused w/ the CPU itself, and the floppy disk drive is about the same size as a VCR, now, that's an External Floppy Drive.

true, but my abit be6-2 didnt have to be rma'd 3 times and go thru 6 months of bios updates and 5 kits of ram to work correctly. also my voodoo2 sli rig worked on all ganes from day one without special mainboards and updated driver releases. i didnt need a helicopter engine to cool my cpu/gpu either. my rig then ran the games that were available then just as well as my rig now runs the games available now.

Right on..my brother is still runnig my BE6-2 too BEYATCH!

PIII 900 mhz!!!!

My first PC was an 8088/10MHz "Turbo" system w/640K RAM, 20MB Seagate MFM drive, BOCA EGA card, and a 1200bps Everex MNP5 modem.

:p

My 1st true 3D card was the Diamond STEALTH 3D 2000 4Mb (not the 2, but the original one). I had upgraded from the one that came with the rig, a big P75! I still have that card, it is huge! The pics they showed on the box had Mech looking like some amazing shit. Then actually playing the game.....NOT even close. I was so pissed Grrrrr.....

I'm so pissed at my friend... he won't give me his Voodoo2 that I want .... I have one here right now... I feel like making an SLI rig...

Man, i remember back when i was in middle school, with a k6-2 1800+, IIRC. I remember smelling burning glue-ish kind of stuff, and getting freaked out really fast while playing red baron. exited everything really slowly, turned off the pc, not in any kind of rush... opened pc and saw the heatsink FELL OFF... lol that damn thing WORKED without a heatsink for about 45 seconds!!! I can't imagine what would happen with this prescott if that happened again, i'm thinking chernobyl? lmfao... that 1800+ was a beast. I have that still tucked away in my closet back home. Think it even has ISA slots, and one of those badass US robotics modems. The ones that sound REALLY good when you're dialing up.
