so i was messing around tonight and though hmm.... wouldnt it be nice if i could make my 8800gtx faster? Ya, so i did, right now it is at 661 core and 1100 memory. and shaders at 1556 running ati tool for 20 minutes with no errors and with stock cooling, fan at 100%, i know this isnt very important but it makes me happy :), all this while only 67c on the core

Wish I could hit 1100 Mem without artifacts... mine starts to misbehave around 1048 for some reason.

Ya, these settings are on the brink of being unstable and the max i would go on mine, but it was fun anyway, i just need a faster processor to fead this thing

thats pretty good since my ultra i have at 660/1080 (havnt changed mem settings)

But waiting for gpu block to come and try higher

Aghhhhh 67C....

BTW... stock and most aftermarket coolers for GPUs is just plain sad and pathetic.

If I actually had the money to buy an 8800, I would end up modding a CPU heatsink and making a shroud that utilized a nice huge high CFM fan (92 or 120mm) fan to cool the sucker and blow the air out the back of the case.

Anyhow.. nice OC on stock cooling.

The 8800 coolers are actually reasonably good, especially considering the goal is silence.

Modding a CPU cooler is problematic mostly because of flex and stress on the card...

Hehe.... flex & stress on a card... ROFL.. you should see my V5-5500 with two socket 7 heatsinks on it.... it is kinda warped. Then again.. it was warped before I ever modded it.

As for my 7900GS.... it is not warped at all.. and it has a nice Socket-A cooler on it.

And..if you are worried about the heatsink being too heavy... you can always make a support braket that helps support the GPU cooler.... ain't hard at all.

Ya im happy my gtx is able to stay cool for a gtx and clock high, even with stock cooling, it may not be as good as a watercooled setup but i just dropped my system into an antec 900 from a chenbro gaming bomb (original) so that will help to

I'll un-ugly it at some point, but it does well as is.

Was it good for you? Did it fulfill you?
I remember my first video overclock – she was a GeForce 3 200Ti. Oh baby, I got her sooo hot!

haha ya, it really got my fans to 100%, well i guess technically this wasnt my first, i had a 6800gt before this and i pressed the "detect optimal frequency" button, but i dont count that as anything :) , this one i had to do the hard way, i never realized how juicy my first post was......hmm maybe a sign of a true tech geek?!?

I'm amazed it didn't explode. nTune thinks the GeForce GO 6600 in my laptop should be running near to 1Ghz core. No lie.
