YACC (Yet Another Camera Comparison)

Of the three, the Coolpix 5600 looks like the best deal. The Panasonic is decent, but it's clearly got serious noise problems. I wouldn't consider it unless that 6x zoom is really important to you (compared to the 3x of the Nikons). Between the two Nikons, I'd choose the 5600; I just can't see anything about the 5200 to justify the extra $70 or so that it'll cost.

As to using AAs, I don't necessarily see that as a negative. Battery packs will tend to get you more shots (in my limited experience), but they're generally quite expensive and leave you with no option if you run out of juice when you're away from your charger.

I'm not sure what you mean about the lenses. Better than what? Looking at the samples, the 5200 is clearly better than the Panasonic, but a lot of that is attributable to the terrible noise of the Panasonic. I imagine the 5600 will be comparable to the 5200, and I'm quite pleased with the samples they've posted from the 5200.
