XT PE: stock cooling OC's

I though this would be easy to find by searching, but apparently not....

I'm a little leery of pulling the stock cooling unit off my XT PE and voiding the warranty, because quite frankly...it was expensive. I'm really just curious if it's even worth the effort.

So roughly what has shown to be safe clocks on these cards with standard cooling? My current card temps are: idle 39C, load 53'ish.

All oc's will be different but I got 550/575 on stock.

putting the ATI Silencer 4 on was a breeze though. I had the same temps as you before the silencer, but now I idle at 31c and load at 45c oc'd to 570/600.

i am at 590/600 with my ATI silencer 4 and x800 xt pe

Try it out and let me know if it works.

As I said, I'm not removing the stock cooler.

I bumped the core up a mere 5mhz and the temp also went up 5C, so if I try for 15-20 on the core and memory apeice, the temps will just be through the roof.

ATW, you will not for sure unless you try.

The average OC for ALL the X800 XT-PEs on my 3DMark05 list is 571/591. You should be able to get that on air I believe.

hrmm 5mhz = 5 degrees id say something is wrong

my X800xt is at 550/580 (at stock cooling this will change though)
and i idle at 38 and load is around 60

if i lower my card down to stock speeds, idle doesnt change and load is like 57

I hate the stock fan , how it revs up since it gets so hot. The silencer rules

Running the ATI Tool artifact scan for 60 seconds, the card reached 71C at stock clocks. Isn't that pretty high?

About par for the course. Did you try turning up the fan speed using ATI tool?

Wasn't aware that was possible until you mentioned it. It's at 66% speed now...what shall I set it to?

Well this has turned into a real pain in the ass. If I use 'find max core', it works its way up to 530, then goes back below stock to 515mhz, and If I do 'max mem', up to 563 and then down to 553. If I bump the clocks manually, anything more than 1-2mhz on each and I get errors during the artifact scan. With the fan at 100% and a case fan blowing on the card, it never broke 55c the entire time, but yet I'm essentially stuck at stock speeds. What gives?

You think drivers have anything to do with it? I'm using the 4.12 catalyst drivers and so far they've been great.

I can pull 560/590 on mine but it doesnt show in actual gamming which is why i keep it at stock. the x850xt-pe bieng stock at 540/590 is but, only 1 fps at most for MIN framerate in moddern games with eyecandy even at low res.

I went back to 4.12 and that did it although it errors even at a mere 565 on the memory. It was at 555 and climbing on the core, but I cut it short and ran some benches at 550. What's interesting though, is the temperature during the artifact scan only reaches 58C, and during a 3dmark run, it showed 44C, which seems quite low. I checked these in the overdrive/temp. tab....not sure if there's a more accurate way to check it.

I had to pencil trick mine to get to OC much. 515 on the core was my limit. Now I can go to 571. The mem is annoyng me, though. I can't go over 555 wihout ATiTool showing artifacts. Even at up to 590 I can' see them. but I figure I'll just play it safe until my Silencer gets here.

My card can handle an overclock of 570/570mhz. Anything past 580mhz on the core and I get crashes. Any higher than 575mhz on the memory starts producing artifacts over time. Temps run 76°C at full load with max o/c. Stock cooler.

Try loading ATItool with a registery key (under settings) at start-up for maximum stability.

I need help. I have a power Color X800XT and I cant even get it past 511 Core and 515 mem. The temps I read from the ATI Control Panel indicate it runs at 39C to 40C Idle while hitting 53C at Load. From what I have heard I should be able to get this baby to XTPE Speeds but it wont work. Are their any tools I should have other than power strip. Is their I can use to check the temp other than the Catalyst Control Panel.
