XT PE....BB and CompUSA

Typically, how often do bestbuy.com and compusa.com get the XT PE's in stock? I've only really been interested in purchasing one for a week or so and have been checking in at those sites quite frequently. Is it a once every few days thing, once a month?......

My local Best Buy has none, said they can't get any, and the "customer fullfillment" deal is BS. The salesman I spoke with told me to hang up and go order one online...sure, and I'll see if Elvis wants to come try it out when it shows up. Another BB 2 hrs away said if I come order one IN PERSON, they can get me one within 24hrs, but I can only recieve it IN PERSON...8hrs of driving.

That's BS...you should be able to give them a credit card number to "prepay", have them order it....then go pick it up "in person"....and while you are on a road trip grab some lunch or something.... Like at Hooters...

Well, persistence pays. Last night before shutting down and going to bed at 3am(!) I checked both sites and to my surprise, bb.com reads "add to cart" rather than "sold out." I was a little leary of buying from them because there's no telling whether you're getting a PE or non-PE, but I suppose it's always returnable.

Well i was also looking for a x800 xt at BB i checked the website it said "out of stock" but i searched for "in store pickup" and my city had it instock so believing that i went to my local BB and guess what they don't have it....they never had it! they only had a 9800 pro and a 9600xt ....soo i was pissed! So i decided to buy this x800 xt (non PE) from allstarshop.com

for way under $500 <--- BB price+ taxes ....for like $470 i got this card shipped OVERNIGHT Fedex and it arrived this morning and i overclocked it, passing clocking speeds of a PE soo i saved some cash...and got even more performance out of my xt for less. BB = BS at my BB a 9800pro sells for $285 thats fuckn crazy!

yea compusa is kinda gay with their whole first come first serve policy, but just call them up, make sure you get the STORE and not their little nation wide line (which calling the stores number will transfer you to with out your knowledge if you arent careful) and talk to the manager, andthey will usually hold it for you.

Three days and $485 later, I was oc'n it to 530 / 575.

Had to drop by one today anyway and got few nice sales rep trying to help me out. They couldn't find any card in warehouse, etc. (I know they were not lying since I was looking at screen while they were searching). Funny thing is, the markup they get is only $30-40 each card. Only 10% profit.

Shoot I settled for a Gigabyte X800XT at PC Club in Burbank, CA for $479.00 and with the ATI Silencer, I am running it at 533 / 573 (533 / 1146), it was worth it all total for about $500 including the silencer.

High end cards are guranteed to sell. If a company can get a person in their store that will spend 500$ on a video card to start buying other "cheap" things like CDR disks or hard drives that have a much higher mark up then they make lots of $$$...
