In prep for Doom3 I'll be trying to OC my XP3000 (333mhz FSB, Barton core) as much as possible. I was wondering how high you all have been able to get your XP3000s. Thanks.
 
man, its been a LONG time since this was posted, but i too now have this same question.
 
try around 2.4Ghz with decent cooling :confused: :confused:
and a few extra volts around 2.0v is max recommended:eek: :eek:
just try to keep the temps under 60C
 
Those top end cpu's don't make great overclockers, they are running at the top end under some pretty high stress as it is.

Look at the max thermal output at their spec'd speeds

AXDA3000DKV4E ~ 68W
AXDA3000DKV4D ~ 74W

Adding Vcore to that will only drive it higher...

2.4 or 2.5 seems to be the limit for air coolers. I have mine at 2.45 and its running a toasty 48* under load
 
I've got a 3000+ 400fsb.

I can run a 2.45ghz clock (235fsb x 10.5) with kingston Hyper-x ddr400 2-2-2-3 set 1:1 with proc and 2-3-3-11 timings on my DFI lan party NF II ultra.

If the memory hadn't been slightly flawed form teh start (couldn't make it do it's standard ratings) I'm sure it woulda went higher, cause my procc v-core is only 1.8v at those speeds and I gotta put at least 2.9v-3.0v to the memory. temps stay pretty managable with a 1977 bonnoville core and the proc being the only thing in my water loop.

Soooo... if you pair it up with some good memory, water, and the right mobo, you ought to be able to hit 2.6-2.7
 
I have a thorton and its a barton with lowered cache but it can reach 2.5ghz with 1.8v. Yours can probably hit like 2.4-2.5ghz depending on the cooling you have and the voltage that is set. I have slk900a with tornado fan on it with fan controller. Its really loud but gets the job done with ease. When at full blast overclocked at 2.5ghz on hot day it is like 40c and 43c while gaming. Just make sure you have the cooling since the xps get really hot some times. :)

i wouldn't push 2.0v execpt on the best aircooling...and i prefer to keep teh temps under 50C...but thats just my preference...60C shouldnt kill your cpu
