So yeah... I get major fps drops in CSS and TF2. Started happening after I installed xp x64. Reformatted last night and it didn't help.

Could it be a harddrive problem? I've tried loads of different nvidia drivers so I doubt they're causing problems. The interesting thing is that the fps drops to 64 and stays there. Sometimes it's 32. I'm determined that it's the xp that causes this. Any thoughts?

These framerate problems happened directly after you installed 64-bit XP, no period of good performance in between?

another user posted this on another forum:

it is a problem with operating systems like that 64 bit and some os's like windows 2003. i had it and just went back to 32 bit xp
