xp upgrade

so my sister wants to upgrade to xp ..from 2000 i think reason being some major problems like the computer not booting os..boot would just take me to the safe mod screen and no matter wat boot option i would select id get a blue screen saying.."windows protection error. you need to restart your computer. system haulted"...thusly looping me back to the safe mode screen..

before she buys xp is there a way to fix this .....also an other computer on my network is being upgraded to xp ..( i would asume to boot from xp disk and simply intall over existing os?)
 
it is probably because you have some corrupted files, or there is a problem with the hdd, try reformatting with 2000 and then if that does not work, then I would look into getting a new hdd and you may as well get xp while your at it. It honestly is worth it, as I have had 2000 and did not like it as much.
 
If you have the 2000 CD you can try two types of repair. The first is quick: Boot from the CD and select "repair." The second" Boot from the CD and select "Install." Be brave...it won;t install overthe old version--at least not yet, fist it will search your system and find your previous install. Then it will ask if you want to repair it. This is a deeper repair--answer yes.

ya thats just it she bought it from some guy who never gave any disks to her no im up in arms tryin to find mobo drivers because she infact did order xp....i know this ones fer "mobos" but all the same ...if anyone knows where i can find drivers for a ms-6378 version:1 mobo tell me
