XP SP2 Firewire drives constantly having issues

I have a cooldrives 4-drive firewire enclosuer (http://www.cooldrives.com/qudrmifi80dr.html) loaded with 4 400GB Seagate IDE drives, formated as NTFS and the latest firmware. No raid, just 4 seperate drives.

It is hooked up to my Windows Media Center 2005 machine (MSI 6150 based board, all the latest drivers) and the machine has been patched with all the Windows firewire patches.

When I reboot the machine Windows will scandisk one or all of the drives and recover lost data. Well, today I am finding it is loosing data. I went to go play one of my movies and it was gone. I still am occasionaly getting delayed write failures.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? All the data is replaceable, but it is a major annoyance.
 
I got this exact same problem on my DS3. Just put a new seagate 7200.10 last night in a thermaltake enclosure, the one with eSATA and USB2.0, formatted it, then tried to copy files to it. Using usb connection currently, think i'll try the eSata tonite. Is it the ICH7/8?

Didn't put that registry tweak in either that causes this with ATI cards.
