XP snappy as hell..?

I just booted up a computer I found in the garage. XP installed, pentium d 3.2ghz, 2gb ram. It is FAR snappier than my 3770k w/ 16gb on windows 8...

Is this a known thing??
 
I recently installed Win98se on a 2ghz P4 (Northwood) with 512 megs of ram.
Slick as greased lightning. Fast. Crashes really fast too....LOL.

IE6...Security? What's that?
 
Load it up with as many running programs as you have on the Win8 machine and try again.
 
Try it with the same amount of memory but with a 500 MHz a Socket 370 Celeron. XP is noticeably sluggish with it, compared to 98SE.
