XP Setup Without Accepting License

Do any of you guys remember the key combination to get into Windows on a new OEM system without accepting the EULA? I remember from Best Buy that it was something like Alt+Shift+F3 or something, but I don't remember it exactly now.
 
Wanted to check the hardware on my mom's new laptop, except that we don't accept the XP EULA- ever. Anyway, I remembered it- Ctrl+Shift+F3. I wasn't too far off!
 
who cares.. except the eula.. and then just dont activate it . Then you've got 30 days to look it over...

Actually, you get a refund for the license as long as you don't accept it. I got $50 back from Dell, and we're calling HP later this week.

I have my own license(s), and I've run Linux on my Dell.

This site used to have info about it.
 
As long as you aren't using the Windows Install afterwards, I'd assume that's legal. But I have to ask....why didn't you just specify "no OS" when you bought the machines. I know you can do that with our HP systems.

He got it from BB though... Dell doesn't offer that IIRC.
 
Not an option on Dells, and this time we got a preconfigured HP from CompUSA. I used to be a tech at BBY, which is where I learned the key-combo.

And it's been upheld in court many times. It is legal, as you said- just don't use the license afterwards. Call the OEM, and they're actually REQUIRED to offer some sort of refund. Read through the EULA, if you ever have time on your hands and need something to laugh about.

that's sweet, so now we can go out and buy uber-cheap eMahcines to FOLD with and get money back since we won't be using Windnoes! :D
