XP & Server 2k3 X64 experiences?

I'm building a new system in a month and a bit, finally moving to C2D from my trusty Northwood. I have a little trouble choosing what OS to use though and I could use some input from the biological knowledge base here on the forum.

I've been running Server 2k3 for the last 2 years or so and have found it excellent in all respects. Testing Vista at the moment and have decided to leave it be for now, although I'll no doubt change over later. What I (obviously, on a Northwood) haven't tried is an x64 OS and I'm wondering if I could get some info from users of XP x64 and 2k3 x64 out there? There was a lot of talk about program incompatibility and driver issues early on regarding x64. Has this been more or less resolved now? Are there any other reasons not to move to x64, or should I just go for it?
