hey Ive recently formated one of my other computers hard drive and when i go to the services in administrative tools and start the services i need then restart the computer and none of the services i started are loaded when xp boots. Also when i type msconfig in the run program it comes up with an error it cant be found. should i try to boot up xp and repair? any help would be welcome

thanks

Could you be a bit more specific? What exactly did you do on the other computer besides reformat?

Did you just start the service, or did you change Startup Type to automatic?

yes i switch them to automatic, for example, when i start it up the appearence is always at windows 98 theme so i go to the services and start the theme service...ok it goes to xp and its good. same for all the other services i need to run. but then after i restart, things are reseted and all the services the computer needs are no longer started when it boots. the only other things i did was clear the partion

Not to be rude, but that doesn't make alot of sense...

What services do you need to have start automatically.. and what, exactly do you mean when you say that all you did was "clear the partition"?

This is just my advice, and that is all it is.. so take it for what it's worth, but I think you should just start over. Re-install XP, and do some research before you start messing around with services..
