I just replaced a older PATA DVD RW with a new SATA LG 16X. I have a plain P5B motherboard that dual boots XP PRO and Vista Ultimate (32).
The machine boots up fine but sits on the XP Splash screen with the bar going back and forth but never going further. I've let it sit for over an hour and the machine never got further. The machine doesn't hang but never goes any further.
If I boot into Vista I have no problems at all and the DVD writer works flawless...
I have moved the SATA cable all over the place with different combinations but XP still won't boot fully.
Any ideas? The firmware has been updated on the drive and I believe the mb is up to date also. Does XP need something in bios set?
